At-home yoga studios are helping families combine business and pleasure for increased happiness.

Often replacing a bedroom, study or garage, at-home yoga studios can serve as a place of business, or simply a calm space to de-stress.

Samantha Cordingley runs her business Yoga at Alex from her family home in Alexandra Headland, Queensland.

Ms Cordingley saw potential to build a family home with a yoga studio on what was vacant land.

"When my husband and I first bought this block of land, I fell in love with the quiet and calm environment," she says.

Located among the treetops with the ocean in the distance, the space provides a peaceful setting for her classes.

"The location invites the mind and body to step away from the fast pace of life to enjoy the class," Ms Cordingley says.

While yoga can be practised in most spaces, a specifically designed studio allows practitioners to truly leave the stresses of everyday life behind and remain in the moment.
