Vivienne Westwood has said that a vegetarian diet can cure the disabled.

Despite her claims being rubbished by experts, the designer insisted that she is living proof of her controversial theory after giving up meat allegedly cured the arthritis in her hand.

She added: "It does cure all kinds of things if you have a vegetarian diet. I used to have rheumatism - and I have a crocked finger.

"But now I don't have any rheumatic pain anymore."

Westwood recently designed several outfits for Miss Piggy to wear in Muppets Most Wanted.

She created a wedding dress for the diva, along with a couture Harris Tweed houndstooth check coat and matching beret.
