MPs Secretly Approve Hefty Send Off Perks
Members of Parliament have once again awarded themselves generous send-off perks, in a crafty late night move, on the eve of the last session the 10th parliament. The Mps, in amendments that were sneaked into the Retirement Benefits Bills 2012, gave themselves a 9.3 million - shilling winding up allowances. The Mps also voted to give themselves diplomatic passports, VIP treatment in all Kenyan airports, and state funerals when they die. And in an apparent attempt to sway President Mwai Kibaki into Okaying the hefty send off perks, the Mps passed the Presidential Retirement Benefits Bill 2012, giving the Head of State a lump sum 25 million shilling retirement allowance, and a host of other benefits
