In Memory of Calvin C. Adams
The Reverend Canon Calvin C. Adams died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at his home in Wilmington, DE. He was 70 years old. Canon Adams was a native of St. Petersburg, FL. He was an alumnus of the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL; the School of Hygiene and Public Health at The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD; and The General Theological Seminary of The Episcopal Church, New York, NY. He served parishes in the Diocese of Long Island and the Diocese of Bethlehem. He retired as Rector in 2010 after serving 22 years at St. Gabriel #39;s Episcopal Church in Douglassville, PA. The principal social space in the parish, Adams Hall, is named for him. In retirement, Canon Adams served as a supply priest in the Diocese of Delaware. Chief among his wide interests was his friendship with Bill W. He also loved to travel and visited every continent except Antarctica. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Pamela Morris Adams, and a wide circle of family, friends and colleagues. Canon Adams #39; funeral liturgy will take place at Christ Episcopal Church, 5th and Court Streets, Reading, PA, on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at 11 am, and burial will be in St. Petersburg, FL. A viewing will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc., 144 N. Spruce St., Birdsboro, PA, from 3 to 7 pm In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Gabriel #39;s Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, PO Box 396, Douglassville, PA 19518 or favorite charity in Calvin #39;s name.
