Wolfe Research: Gold could start to overtake bitcoin – CNBC

Posted: April 4, 2024 at 2:47 am

Gold has a chance to charge ahead of bitcoin as the flagship cryptocurrency hovers around the $70,000 level, according to Wolfe Research. The yellow metal and its digital counterpart have been trading in tandem with each other for the past month, with both reaching new records even as the stock market trades near its highs. However, bitcoin has also been mirroring its own moves from 2021, when the cryptocurrency rocketed twice to all-time highs, just before a deep pullback. "Bitcoin has historically traded like more of a 'risk asset' and often is where excess liquidity has found a home for the retail investor (see 2021)," Wolfe's managing director Rob Ginsberg said in a note Wednesday. BTC.CM= @GC.1 1M mountain Bitcoin and gold have been rallying alongside each other this month, even with stocks reaching new highs "The similarities to that time frame are undeniable, but does the same fate await it? While we definitely aren't calling for a 50% correction like we saw then, it would not shock us to see bitcoin continue to stall out north of $70,000," he added. Gold may fare better, however. "The gold vs. bitcoin ratio is nearing support while oversold on a weekly basis," said Ginsberg. "If our feeling on bitcoin is correct, and it continues to consolidate in this $60,000$73,000 region, it may provide a good opportunity for gold to start outperforming." Bitcoin hit an all-time high of $73,679 on March 14 before sliding as low as about $60,800 last week as traders digested the run. It has since returned to its highs and looks ready to reaccelerate, Ginsberg said, although selling pressure "has historically come on strong above $70,000." Bitcoin's "digital gold" narrative has been back in play for about a year after the cryptocurrency's correlation with stocks fell drastically in March 2023. The flagship crypto'srally this year was initially catalyzed by demand expected from the approval of spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the U.S., plus the price shock it is expected to experience soon after the late-April bitcoin halving .

As wife joins the Catholic Church, Jordan Peterson says Easter is the core story of humanity – Catholic News Agency

Posted: at 2:47 am

In the interview, Peterson reflected on the idea of a calling.

Youre called upon to climb Jacobs Ladder, and it spirals infinitely upward well, to where? Peterson asked. Infinitely upward isnt a place Its a direction. Heaven is a place thats perfect, thats getting better at the same time.

Anything that attracts your attention is a portal to the divine, he added. Youll pursue that thing that attracts your attention, thats your calling, and then itll transmute, and youll find yourself oriented in another direction. The spirit that remains constant through all the transformations of your calling thats the divine.

Thats what the divine is; its ineffable because it cant be fully revealed. Its unlikely to be fully revealed in the course of your existence, but it calls you forward continually, he continued. Thats what the burning bush is in the story of Moses. It shows itself in different places for different people.

When asked what it was like to see his wife join the Catholic Church, Peterson said its a miraculous thing to see.

I loved my wife from the moment I laid eyes on her when I was a kid, he said. If you love someone, it hurts you when you see them deviate from the thing that draws you to them. And since shes pursued her efforts at enlightening herself more thoroughly and this investigation of Catholicism has been key to that shes much more who she is.

Though his wife became Catholic, Peterson said he remains unlikely to join the Church. When Flynn asked what was holding Peterson back from becoming Catholic himself, he responded: I dont think anythings holding me back. Everybodys got their own destiny.

How a terminal cancer diagnosis helped Tammy Peterson find faith and healing – Fox News

Posted: at 2:47 am

{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}

The wife of famed psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson opened up on "Fox & Friends" about how she found faith and healing after a terminal cancer diagnosis in 2019.

The "pressure" of her health crisis motivated Tammy Peterson to begin living life through "spirit" versus "self-will" and she will officially become a Catholic this Easter Sunday.

Peterson was first diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma, an "easy" form of cancer that she said "wasnt going to kill me." After her first operation, doctors discovered a Bellini tumor, a rare, malignant metastasis. These are usually only diagnosed after someone passes away, she said, and doctors gave her 10 months to live.

EASTER IS ABOUT GOD'S LOVE AND SHOULD NOT BE 'DOMESTICATED,' SAYS BISHOP ROBERT BARRON

"[It was] a much more aggressive cancer in my kidney that pretty much kills everyone. It grows so fast. They don't diagnose this and they and they don't have any treatment for it," she told host Will Cain.

She previously told The Catholic News Agency that seeing her sons grief at the news made her realize that she "was worthy" of fighting for her life. She decided that only "God will decide when I am going to die."

"I would just pray. And I continue to do that now," she said. "I dont let myself worry."

HOLY WEEK LEADS THE FAITHFUL TO EASTER SUNDAY: HERE ARE THE SPECIAL DAYS OBSERVED AND WHAT THEY MEAN

After two surgeries, Peterson experienced further complications and doctors could not find the source. She told the Detroit Catholic that prayer "sustained" her during this five-week-long hospitalization. Prayer would "alleviate some of the pain." Peterson said she prayed the novena to St. Josemaria Escriva, a nine-day prayer to a specific saint. On the fifth day, doctors discovered Peterson's body began to heal on its own. Her next surgery was canceled and she left the hospital, crediting her recovery to God and dietary changes.

She told "Fox & Friends Weekend" co-host Will Cain that her husbands book "12 Rules for Life" discusses how to lead life in the "right direction" in the "spirit of truth" and gratitude. She said the weight of her diagnosis helped her find the pillars her husband outlines to lead a good life.

At 63, Peterson said her years of marriage with Dr. Peterson has thrived in the spirit of "living in truth." Every choice they make, she said, must be guided by truth versus self-will.

Living in spirit, she said, is the way to "make it right."

An Exclusive Interview with Tammy and Dr. Jordan Peterson (The Cale Clarke Show) – Relevant Radio

Posted: at 2:47 am

Congratulations to Tammy Peterson for entering the Catholic Church! We welcome all new Catholics who came in this Easter vigil.

Cale Clarke had the privilege of speaking with Tammy and Dr. Jordan Peterson, right after the Easter Vigil at Holy Rosary in Toronto, Canada.

Tammy shared her mesmerizing experience of the vigil. This beautiful tradition resonated with her deeply, reminding her of a similar, enlightening experience at a monastery in Austria, where she and Jordan witnessed their first Easter vigil.

Dr. Jordan Peterson shared that for him, the experience was not just about witnessing but actively participating in a saga of faith that has been years in the making. Tammys exploration of faith, her connection with the Rosary during her illness, and her journey towards Catholicism were credited as profound steps in her entrance into the Church.

Tammys choice of Mary as her confirmation name shows her lifelong search for a maternal figure that she found within the Catholic faith, a discovery intertwined with praying the Rosary during her most challenging times. As a former Protestant, she was always bothered that Mary could not be found in their churches.

Jordan Peterson delved into the philosophical and existential dimensions of Tammys spiritual journey, criticizing modern societys inclination towards worship of nature and the perils of ignoring transcendental truth. Both Tammy and Jordan spoke candidly about the struggles of living in a culture that often prioritizes immediate gratification and power over the pursuit of truth and spiritual depth.

The conversation took a deeply personal turn as they reflected on the themes of death and resurrection, particularly resonating with their experiences of near-death and profound loss, juxtaposed with the joy of new life within their family. This duality of grief and gratitude has helped Tammy to better experience the power of Jesus resurrection.

Tammys account of dealing with her fathers death and the simultaneous birth of her grandson is the embodiment of the Easter message of death leading to new life, a theme that deeply touched both her and Jordan. They reflected on gratitude, the importance of seeking truth beyond oneself, and the acknowledgment of lifes transient nature.

Tammy and Dr. Jordan Peterson encourage you to never take life for granted. Every moment is a gift, so take it in and give thanks to God.

Peterson finds her new home in Mary – The Catholic Register

Posted: at 2:47 am

Cancer survivor and Canadian podcaster Tammy Peterson has chosen the confirmation name of Mary and says she feels like a new woman in Christ.

Peterson was confirmed at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, as part of a group of 12 catechumens, nine of whom were confirmed and three baptized as Roman Catholics at the Easter Vigil on March 30 in midtown Toronto.

I know what brought me here. Ive been looking for Mother Mary since I was a little kid, Peterson, who turned 63 on March 16, told The Catholic Register.

In an interview with the Register immediately after the Easter Vigil Mass, Peterson said she wanted to explore the Bible through the Book of Proverbs.

Im hoping through that, people can find a relationship. The Proverbs are supposed to be something that you read to help you deepen your faith and to broaden your scope of understanding, and how to use the Bible to make your life fruitful, she said. Im hoping that that can be helpful to people.

Petersons husband, Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson, is not a Catholic but attended the Vigil and lined up during Holy Communion for a blessing from Holy Rosarys pastor, Fr. Peter Turrone. Tammy received a low-gluten host due to having celiac disease.

After the Vigil, Jordan sat beside his wife inside the church during the interview. He said the Catholic Churchs insistence upon the Divine nature of the mother is something that the West desperately needs.

Being female and having a voice, shes in a position to investigate that in some depth, he told the Register.

He said his wife was drawn to the Catholic Church because of Mother Mary and the ties of motherhood.

Tammy loved being a mother. She loves being a grandmother, and certainly that was the best part of your life, especially when you had little kids, Jordan noted. I think the best part of (Tammy) came out (with) them.

On her new calling, Tammy Peterson said: I want to help more people to get to know God. My resolution is that if I want to do more, I need to pray more.

Growing up in Fairview, Alta., a town of fewer than 3,000, Petersons parents brought her up initially in the Protestant Church. However, she stopped attending Sunday School and grew up outside of organized religion.

She was introduced to yoga by an aunt as a child. Peterson said she realized the practice of prayer, through the Rosary, was more appealing to her.

Theres some meditation in (yoga) but its not Scripture, she said. I read that the whole idea of meditation was supposed to be based on Scripture. Thats something that people need to know.

Petersons Confirmation sponsor, Queenie Yu, brought a Rosary to the hospital when Peterson was suffering from a rare and aggressive form of cancer, and a debilitating illness that followed after successful cancer surgery nearly five years ago. Peterson was curious about the devotion to the Rosary and Yu taught her how to pray it, joining her every morning for five weeks at Toronto General Hospital.

Yu, a Catholic convert, said the preparation to be received in full communion with the Catholic Church is like training for the Olympics.

Its the beginning of a new way of living, she said.

Catholics on social media react to Tammy Peterson’s ‘homecoming’ Catholics on social media react to Tammy … – CatholicVote org

CV NEWSFEED // Catholics on social media have been expressing joy and congratulations for Tammy Peterson following her entrance into the Catholic Church Saturday.

Peterson was officially welcomed into the Church during the Easter Vigil Mass at Holy Rosary Parish in Toronto, where she was joined by her husband, Dr. Jordan Peterson, and her confirmation sponsor, Queenie Yu.

Photographs of the event went viral on social media, receiving thousands of likes, and well-wishes.

Many Catholics on X, formerly known as Twitter, have expressed their happiness about Petersons homecoming, as Catholic journalist Sheila Nonato called it in her report for the Catholic Register.

For his part, Dr. Peterson has reposted multiple stories covering his wifes conversion. He even posted a personal message on X, congratulating her for becoming a Catholic girl.

Tammys conversion story began while she was battling cancer in 2015. She was miraculously healed after being told she would only have 10 months left to live. She attributes this occurrence to her newfound devotion to the Rosary and a novena that she had been praying to ask St. Josemaria Escriva for his intercession.

Tammy Peterson confirmed in front of fellow parishioners in Toronto Catholic Church – The B.C. Catholic

Posted: at 2:47 am

Canadian podcaster and cancer survivor Tammy Maureen Peterson stood with eight other catechumens and their sponsors Saturday night in front of a packed crowd of hundreds of fellow parishioners at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in midtown Toronto where three were baptized and 12 were confirmed as Roman Catholics.

Peterson received the triple blessing of sacraments: her first confession before the Easter Vigil, then the sacraments of confirmation and her first Holy Communion (receiving a low-gluten host due to living with celiac disease).

She had been baptized as a Protestant but was non-practising after she stopped attending Sunday school as a child. She remembers as a child seeing her Polish Catholic great-grandmother with her rosary every day, which sparked an interest in Mary that later grew into a devotion to the Rosary. Tammy now prays with the same rosary, which was passed down to her grandmother and then to her cousin, who sent it to her when she heard that Tammy was ill.

After the Easter Vigil, Tammy told The B.C. Catholic that her confirmation as a Catholic meant a new call to a more public role, including through her podcasts, where she will examine hot-button topics such as feminism through a countercultural lens and the inspiration of the Blessed Virgin.

I was looking up at the stained glass tonight when there werent any lights on, and you can really see the image there, and we were looking at Mother Mary holding baby Jesus and the Crucifixion beneath, and we were talking about how this was the message of the female hero. If Christ is the male hero, then Mother Mary, having this baby, knowing whats going to happen, thats the female hero, she said.

Peterson, who celebrated her 63rd birthday on March 16, was accompanied by her husband, Canadian psychologist Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, who sat beside her at the church.

Jordan told The B.C. Catholic that part of the reason (Tammy) was fascinated by the Catholic Church is because of its positioning of Mary. Its one of the things that the Catholic Church has (that is) very powerful to offer on the Christian side.

Its that insistence upon the divine nature of the mother, and thats something the West desperately needs, Jordan said.

Holy Rosary pastor Father Peter Turrone poured water over the heads of the three candidates entering the Church and baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

For the 12 who were confirmed, he made a Sign of the Cross on each of their foreheads with the sacred chrism oil to impart the gift of the Holy Spirit. He also placed his hands upon each of them to represent the conferral of the Holy Spirit from the Apostles. The congregation followed with a public recitation and renewal of their baptismal promises.

Father Turrone told The B.C. Catholic that he is encouraging the catechumens to continue to grow in their faith.

To each one (of the catechumens), I would say Congratulations for having made that bold decision, to having responded to the grace of God, he said.

God has been calling you from the beginning of time to be part of his Church, and thank you for saying Yes, for taking a leap of faith and for trusting in the goodness of God and Jesus love for you.

Its important for the new Catholic to remember that their faith is a faith in the living Triune God, he said. Regardless of the things that happen around us, they can never take away the splendours of Jesus Christ, so stay as close as possible to Jesus Christ because you cannot live your faith alone.

During the sacrament of confirmation, Petersons confirmation sponsor Queenie Yu was beaming with happiness for Peterson as she stood directly behind her.

Yu, who is a numerary member of Opus Dei and director of character education at Hawthorn School for Girls, told The B.C. Catholic that she marvelled at the hand of God working in Petersons life.

Who would have known that a visit to the hospital would result in Tammys praying the Rosary for five weeks, then getting cured after praying to St. Josemaria Escriva for five days, and getting confirmed five years later at Holy Rosary Parish, Yu said.

Her friend had been hospitalized for five weeks at Toronto General Hospital in 2019, suffering from a debilitating illness that baffled doctors. Doctors gave her and her husband the devastating news that she had a rare and aggressive cancer and gave her only 10 months to live. She underwent successful cancer surgery, with doctors removing half of her left kidney, leading to her hair falling out and her weight dropping dramatically to 90 pounds.

It was on the fifth day of praying the Novena for the Sick to Opus Dei founder St. Josemaria Escriva that she was gifted the miraculous recovery.

You and I couldnt have planned this. But God was behind it all, Yu said. And he writes the best poetry with the events in our life.
