Puppy Yoga at Rooflow: A Fluffy Blend of Serenity and Joy – Egyptian Streets
Posted: April 13, 2024 at 2:37 am
In the bustling city of New Cairo, amidst the serene ambiance of Rooflow Studio, a unique and heartwarming yoga experience has taken root: Puppy Yoga.
Egyptian Streets had the opportunity to speak with Salma Ashraf, the yogi instructor and mastermind behind this delightful session, to uncover the story behind its creation and the profound impact it has on participants.
Ashrafs journey began with a personal desire to explore the concept of Puppy Yoga, but the logistics seemed daunting.
However, fate had a hand in the matter when a client approached Rooflow founder, sharing an amazing idea. It turned out that this client knew someone whose dog had just given birth to several adorable puppies. And thats how puppy yoga came to be, becoming a beloved trademark of Rooflow Studio.
The physical and mental benefits of yoga are well-known, promoting dopamine release and a sense of happiness. However, when combined with the emotional and mental connection that puppies bring, the experience becomes even more profound, Ashraf said.
The sessions uniqueness lies in the dynamic interaction between clients and puppies. Picture a client holding a plank pose while a puppy finds solace on their back, peacefully observing or even dozing off: playful and heartwarming moments infuse the practice with laughter and an undeniable sense of camaraderie.
Curiosity piqued, we asked Ashraf if any amusing incidents occurred during the sessions.
She shared a lighthearted anecdote about a mischievous puppy who couldnt resist a golden moment to relieve itself on an unsuspecting client. These incidents are rare and Ashraf ensures the safety and comfort of everyone involved by limiting the number of puppies participants can hold simultaneously to three.
Beyond the joy and relaxation it brings, Ashraf suggested that Puppy Yoga serves as a sanctuary for those with severe anxiety, offering a tranquil space to let go of worries. It appeals not only to dog lovers but also to individuals seeking the combined benefits of yoga and the presence of these furry companions.
Participants in Puppy Yoga sessions often display enhanced focus and stamina, as the delightful distractions of the puppies allow them to hold poses for longer durations, especially when engaging the core, Ashraf observed as she conducted more Puppy Yoga sessions.
Looking toward the future, Ashraf shared her vision of giving back to the community. Donation-based Puppy Yoga sessions at shelters are on the horizon, providing support and joy to shelter puppies while offering participants a meaningful way to contribute to their well-being.
A typical Puppy Yoga session is divided into two halves. The first half, a focused and energizing 35 minutes, emphasizes posture and a variety of poses. Then, the remaining 25 minutes transform the atmosphere as the puppies join in, spreading joy and happiness, Ashraf claimed.
Accompanied by uplifting music, the session creates a momentary pause from the pressures of daily life, allowing participants to forget about work, fasting, and any other concerns they have.
Furthermore, the beauty of these Puppy Yoga sessions extend beyond the yoga mat. It fosters a friendly and welcoming environment where individuals can connect with like-minded people, forming new friendships while immersing themselves in the practice and enjoying the playful company of the adorable puppies.
So, if youre seeking a unique and uplifting experience that combines the benefits of yoga with the irresistible charm of puppies, Puppy Yoga at Rooflow Studio is an absolute must-try.
Its a journey of cuteness, serenity, and a renewed sense of joy that will undoubtedly leave people with a wagging tail and a heart full of bliss.

Yogi Paws hostsevents at The Knoll Centrein Old Shoreham Road,Hove, and began its first classes in February.
People have a conventional yoga session before the puppies go into the studio where they wander aroundfreely.
The business, believed to be the first of its kind in Sussex, is owned by Brighton residents Brandon Mojica, 25, and Hayley Bianco, 24.
The pair, who own two dogs, said it was their love of canines thatinspired them to set it up.
They told The Argus: "There isnt a person who isnt beaming with smiles after getting a dose of that magic chemistry between dogs and humans when they interact."

They hold three sessions on each event day to make sure the puppies do not get too tired. Each event involves a different breed and so far have been with French bulldogs, labradors and huskies.
The yoga sessions begin witha 20-minute traditional yoga routine, led by expert instructor Kayla Becher, followed by 20 minutes of continued yoga exercise with puppies wandering around the studio.
The final 20 minutes are for cuddling and playing with the puppies, with the dogs then given a separate room to rest and sleep in before the next session.
The owners said all the puppies come from Sussex and are visited in their homes beforehand.
They make sure they are from loving families who have bred them safely and that owners provideproof of first vaccinations to ensuretheyare safe and healthy.
The puppies take part in these sessions before they move on to their forever homes away from their mothers.

Brandon and Hayleysaid they wanted to base the business inBrighton as it is a "city of dog lovers" and the sessionsbenefitboth humans and dogs.
They said:"In this fast-paced and fast-moving time, its often easy to put spending time looking after the mind aside. But its absolutely necessary to do this.
"A puppy yoga session allows for mindful practice, a time when people can benefit from being very much in the present moment as opposed to being carried away by the hustle and bustle and rush of everyday life.
"Weve absolutely seen first hand that puppy yoga has enormous benefits for people and pups alike.
"It is a valuable experience for puppies to interact with people for the first time in a quiet, peaceful and tranquil environment. Puppies benefit from socialisation and the bonding experiences with new people.
"The puppies also thrive in this environment, where everything and everyone is new and exciting to them.
"They love seeing themselves in the mirrors for the first time, sprinting from yoga mat to yoga mat, and figuring out whether hair scrunchies that are still in peoples hair are toys meant for them.
"The puppies soak up the affection and love they get from everyone."

Columbia initiates Black Maternal Health Week with yoga in park – WACH.com

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)
The City of Columbia, in collaboration with the Black Maternal Health Collective, recently announced a series of events for the inaugural Black Maternal Health Week. This initiative, aligned with the Black Mama's Matter Initiative, aims to raise awareness, promote activism, and foster community-building regarding Black maternal health issues in the United States.
One of the key events scheduled for Sunday, April 7, is "Yoga In the Park with Balloon Release." The session will take place at MLK Park, 2300 Greene Street, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Led by an instructor, this yoga session is dedicated to mothers and families impacted by losses due to maternal health inequities. It offers a peaceful environment for reflection and remembrance. Additionally, the event will feature a Balloon Release to honor those who have experienced loss and to foster community connections and mutual support.
At a press conference, officials highlighted the week's objectives, which include sparking conversations about Black maternal health, amplifying community-driven solutions, centering the voices of Black mothers and families, and providing a platform for Black-led efforts on maternal health and reproductive justice.
Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reveals concerning statistics about Black maternal health in the U.S. In 2021, the maternal mortality rate for non-Hispanic Black women stood at 69.9 deaths per 100,000 live births, which is 2.6 times higher than the rate for non-Hispanic White women. Moreover, Black women in the U.S. are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than White women. Alarmingly, CDC reports that over 80% of pregnancy-related deaths are preventable.
The Black Maternal Health Week events aim to shed light on these disparities and mobilize efforts towards improving maternal health outcomes for Black mothers and families.

Arvind Kejriwal demands books on Ram, Krishna, and PM: Check Delhi CM’s special requests for Tihar Jail – The Economic Times
Posted: at 2:50 am
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's recent 15-day remand to Tihar Jail has drawn attention due to his special requests for reading material during his incarceration. Sentenced by the Rouse Avenue Court until April 15, Kejriwal has sought permission to have three books with him: the Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, and "How Prime Minister Decides" by Neerja Choudhary.

It's not been decided which section of Tihar Jail that Kejriwal will be in. Other Aam Aadmi Party leaders like Sanjay Singh, Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, and K. Kavita are in different sections.
What is the Tihar jail routine?
Arvind Kejriwal's ED custody Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 and was first kept in their custody until March 28. Later, the court extended his ED custody until April 1.

The ED had sought an extension of Kejriwal's custody for seven more days, but the court extended it by four days until April 1, citing "sufficient reasons" based on the ED's submissions. The probe agency stressed the importance of confronting Kejriwal with the evidence collected and statements recorded during the investigation.

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 after being questioned for over two hours at his official residence in Delhi. The ED has accused him of being the "kingpin and the key conspirator" of an alleged excise scam in collaboration with other ministers of the Delhi government, AAP leaders, and other individuals.

Arvind Kejriwal Allowed to Have Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana and Neerja Chaudhary’s Book and Essential Medicines in … – Law Trend
Posted: at 2:50 am
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been sent to Tihar Jail for 15 days of judicial custody by the Rouse Avenue Court. Scheduled to remain in Delhis Tihar Jail until April 15, Kejriwal has been permitted to bring three specific books with him.
Through his lawyers, Kejriwal filed a petition in court requesting permission to have the Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, and senior journalist Neerja Chaudharys book How Prime Minister Decide with him in jail. He also requested essential medications.
Additionally, Kejriwal has sought the courts permission to keep a religious locket he wears and asked for a special diet. He has requested that the court allow him a table and chair in jail.
The Tihar Jail superintendent has been instructed to provide Kejriwal with psyllium husk, glucose, candy, and bananas should his sugar levels drop suddenly. Jail authorities are ordered to monitor his sugar levels regularly.
The court also advised Tihar Jail authorities to consider providing the Chief Minister with books, notepads, and pens. If these items are unavailable from the jail authorities, Kejriwal is allowed to bring his own, subject to inspection and in accordance with jail rules.
Kejriwal is also permitted to bring his glasses and the religious locket he wears.
It remains uncertain which cell in Tihar Jail will house Kejriwal. Amid heightened activity in the jail, particularly in Jail Number 3, which houses a dispensary, jail superintendents of Jails Number 2, 3, and 5 are on high alert.
Tihar Jail, which comprises nine jails with around 12,000 inmates, often houses prisoners related to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The daily routine in jail is uniform for all prisoners, beginning with cell and barrack openings at sunrise. Inmates receive tea and bread for breakfast around 6:40 am, followed by a meal consisting of lentils, one vegetable dish, and five rotis around 10:30-11:00 am. Rice is provided to those who do not eat rotis.
Inmates are confined to their barracks from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, after which they are allowed out again. They receive tea and two biscuits at 3:30 pm, and dinner at 5:30 pm consists of lentils, a vegetable dish, and five rotis. After sunset, around 6:30-7:00 pm, all inmates are locked in their cells for the night.
Inmates are allowed to watch TV from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm, with access to 18-20 channels, including news, sports, and entertainment.
In court, the ED claimed that Kejriwal is not cooperating with the investigation, providing evasive answers. The ED, represented by Additional Solicitor SV Raju, indicated the possibility of requesting further custody of Kejriwal, who has yet to share his mobile phone password, claiming ignorance.

A high-level meeting was recently held in Tihar Jail to discuss Kejriwals accommodation and security arrangements should he be sent to judicial custody.
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED after approximately two hours of questioning at his official residence on March 21, in connection with the Delhi liquor scam. Despite his arrest, he has not resigned from his position as Chief Minister, with Aam Aadmi Party leaders stating that he will continue to serve as Delhis Chief Minister and govern from jail if necessary.

Titled Tuesday – April 2, 2024 – Chess.com
Posted: at 2:50 am
GM Hikaru Nakamura and GM Andrew Hong won the first Titled Tuesday events of April 2024. For Hong, it was a milestone, being his first-ever win in Titled Tuesday, and he did it outright with 10 points while Nakamura neededtiebreaks earlier after finishing in a four-way tie for first.
Nakamura also made the top five late, finishing fourth, while IM Meri Arabidze swept the women's prizes.
Joining Nakamura on 9.5 points in the early tournament, out of the original field of 672 players, were GMs Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Levan Pantsulaia, and Gata Kamsky. The group of four only played two games against each other, and Nakamura was a part of both: the round before he and Kamsky made a draw, Nakamura came out ahead of Duda in round nine.
We highly recommend that you not try this opening at home, unless you are absolutely sure you know what you're doing.
If the four tied players that emerged from round nine weren't enough, those players all drew each other in round 10, which helped create a seven-way morass at the top of the standings with one round left. Kamsky was the "lucky" one who faced a player on eight points, but that was only fair; he was the person who toppled GM Magnus Carlsen in round nine.
Kamsky's 11th-round game wasn't easy, either, coming against GM Jose Martinez, but his win was only enough for fourth place after tiebreaks. Elsewhere, Nakamura defeated IM Rudik Makarian, Duda overcame GM Tuan Minh Le, and Pantsulaia won against GM Shamsiddin Vokhidov. Duda took two bishops and a better pawn structure to the house and finished second, leaving us to wonder what would have happened had he held against Nakamura earlier.
April 2 Titled Tuesday | Early | Final Standings (Top 20)
(Full final standings here.)
Nakamura won the $1,000 first place prize and wasn't quite done earning money yet. Duda won $750 in second place, Pantsulaia claimed $350 in third, and Kamsky won $200 in fourth. GM Denis Lazavik led tiebreaks for the three players on nine points to claim $100, while Arabidze scored 7.5 points to win the $100 women's prize.
Hong had much less difficulty in securing the early tournament out of a field of 483. He began on a perfect 9/9 score, including a win over Nakamura in round seven after things got very interesting right out of the opening.
The Hong train was stopped in its tracks in the 10th round, however, derailed by GM Alexey Sarana, who ultimately rode into second place with the victory.
Hong managed to get back on track in the final round, winning against Duda in a romp after Duda made the mistake of "castling into it." Hong's win secured the tournament after Sarana and GM Aleksandr Shimanov only managed a draw against each other.
Nakamura wasn't able to sweep the day but he did place in both events, recovering from losses in rounds seven and eight with three straight victories, including the final one over GM Matthias Bluebaum.
April 2 Titled Tuesday | Late | Final Standings (Top 20)
(Full final standings here.)
Hong won the $1,000 first place prize, with Sarana accepting $750 for second, and Shimanov claiming the $350 for third. Nakamura added $200 to his total for the day, making him the big overall earner at $1,200. GM Dmitry Andreikin, who always seems to be lurking somewhere in Titled Tuesday, managed fifth place for $100. Finally, Arabidze tacked on her second $100 women's prize of the day.
The biggest standings change this week came in the junior section, with Lazavik taking the top spot from CM Artem Bardyk. Lazavik still has three tournaments left to reach the cap of 20 qualifying events, so it is difficult to see him falling back behind Bardyk. (GM Pranav Venkatesh, on 120.5 points through 15 tournaments, could potentially be another matter, though.)
Meanwhile, Nakamura continues to accumulate points, his top 20 results now averaging 9.3 points per tournament. The only change in the top five this week was Andreikin reclaiming the fifth spot from GM Jeffery Xiong. There was also a change to fifth place in the women's section this week, with WFM Katarzyna Dwilewicz taking it.
Continuing to lead the seniors and girls are Kamsky (no surprise after his early tournament this week) and WCM Veronika Shubenkova.
Juniors: GM Denis Lazavik (143.0 points)
Seniors: GM Gata Kamsky (159.0 points)
Girls: WCM Veronika Shubenkova (79.5 points)
The new Titled Cup fantasy game Chess Prophet continues as well. Current standings can be found here. (Login required.)

Chess.com Announces Massive Changes To Website: Gameplay, Interface, and More! – Chess.com

Edited on April 2, 2023: Happy April Fools' Day, everyone. Stay safe!
Chess.com is excited to announce a complete overhaul of the chess-playing experience, now especially crafted for the next generation of young talents.
With a swipe-centered approach and multiple new features, playing chess is easier and more fun than ever before. Borrowing from popular apps like TikTok, Chess.com now packs an innovative and modern interface that is more in tune with the current times.
Tried and tested by some of the most prominent players in the world, the new Chess.com interface has proven to be a huge hit.
"We understand clicking is cringe. Tapping lacks rizz. Swiping hits different, and we're ready for it," said IM Danny Rensch. "No cap," he added.
Tapping lacks rizz. Danny Rensch, CCO of Chess.com
Tapping is so 2023. We understand that swiping is a faster and more efficient way to do just about anything in life. With this in mind, our new interface makes playing chess much easier by applying a swipe-centered approach to moving your pieces.
How will it work? Its all very simple: first, youll see one of your pieces appear on your screen. If thats the piece you want to move, all you have to do is swipe right. If it isnt, you should swipe left to see your next piece. You repeat this process until you get to the piece youd like to move.
Next, youll see a square on your screen (ex: the a1-square). Swipe up or down to indicate if thats the square you want your piece to land on. This revolutionary way of moving pieces will ensure that you never have to use the tip of your fingers again!
Weve all played that one player who likes to think about their moves. In olden times, youd have no choice but to sit there and actually think about your own movesbut who wants to do that?
Now, with our new feature, youll never have to be bored again. With a simple swipe of the thumb, you can open other games like Subway Surfers as you wait for your opponent to contemplate their next move. Surf and tag train cars to your delight while swiping into chess victory at the same time!
Now, when youre playing on Chess.com, literally anyone in the world will be able to watch your games live and react to your every move. Watch in amazement as emojis pop up on your screen while youre pre-moving in time scramble to deliver a complicated checkmate.
We understand losing is frustrating and that you deserve a better rating than what you currently have. When you lose a game, you can now share it with your network along with an inspiring caption going over your feelings and what you learned from the game. Other members will be able to engage with your post with nothing but supportive messages, as is common on the internet. If you get enough engagement from the community, well refund all your lost rating points!
"Chess is all about community," said Erik Allebest, Chess.com's CEO. "We want to bring chess closer to the real world of social media, where engagement is all that matters."
We want to bring chess closer to the real world of social media. Erik Allebest, CEO of Chess.com
Start sharing your games and prove why you are better than what your rating says. With this feature, even if your opponent wins, you can not lose.
Chess.com believes this swipe-centered paradigm will shift the way people engage with the game online forever. This new release is set to make the game even more appealing to the masses, and the stats prove it:
"After 2023's chess craze, the chess-playing demographic has seen a major shift toward younger audiences. Gen Z players are now approximately 80.5% of Chess.com's active member base, while Utah-based Boomers account for 10.4%, and Millennials only 5%, with the rest of the members being Vegan," said Brenan Klain, Chess.com's Utah-based Head of Engagement. "We're excited to have a new and better way to serve this massive chunk of our community."
If youve not received the update yet, dont worry! Within 24 hours, youll be able to join the younger generation of masters like Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Denis Lazavik, and Anish Giri, who are already having a blast with the new version of Chess.com.
What do you think of these updates? Let us know in the comment section below!
