Wouldn’t have voted for you as you are Indian, US author tells Vivek Ramaswamy – India Today
Posted: May 15, 2024 at 2:46 am
Millionaire entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who generated a lot of interest with his anti-Woke presidential campaign, was in for a racial shock delivered by none other than American commentator and author Ann Coulter, whom he had invited to his podcast. She said she agreed with many things that Vivek Ramaswamy said but she wouldn't have still voted for him because he was "Indian".
Ramaswamy was born to Indian-American parents who moved from Kerala to the US. Only a person born in the US, not an "Indian", can contest the US presidential election.

Ramaswamy quit the presidential race after the defeat in the Iowa Caucus in January, and pledged support to Republican lead candidate Donald Trump. Starting as an outsider to American politics, Vivek Ramwsawmy's campaign made people sit back and take note, especially because of his hard-hitting speeches and arguments.
People saw Ann Coulter's comments on Ramaswamy's podcast 'The Truth' as racially biassed and slammed her.
Thanks for having me, that was a fantastic opening monologue. I too am a fan of yours, so Im going to make a point of disagreeing with you so it will be fun. You are so bright and articulate, and I guess I can call you articulate since youre not an American Black. Cant say that about them, thats derogatory," said Coulter.
"I agreed with many, many things you said during in fact, probably more than most other candidates when you were running for president, but I still would not have voted for you because youre an Indian. Well get back to that," she added.
Despite the racial comments, Ramaswamy responded politely, stating that his skin colour doesn't determine his loyalty to his country, the US. He explained that immigrants or their children might have stronger loyalty than a seventh-generation American who hates their own country.
Coulter defended her remark after realising its racial tone.
"There is a core national identity that is the identity of the WASP and that doesnt mean we cant take anyone else in, a Sri Lankan, or a Japanese, or an Indian, but the core around which the nations values are formed is the White Anglo-Saxon Protestants (WASP)," said Coulter.
After the podcast, Ramaswamy posted on X, praising Coulter for her honesty but mentioning he disagreed with her views.
"AnnCoulter told me flat-out to my face that she couldnt vote for me because youre an Indian", even though she agreed with me more than most other candidates. I disagree with her but respect she had the guts to speak her mind. It was a riveting hour. The TRUTH podcast is back," Ramaswamy posted on X.
After Ramaswamy's post, his comment box was filled with comments of support for him.
"Vivek maintained composure and worked to find any common ground with Coulter. Masterclass on how to be unoffendable," a user wrote on X.
"We all support you Vivek and hope to see you as Vice President or in some other position," wrote another on X praising Ramaswamy.

‘Wouldn’t have voted for Vivek Ramaswamy’: American author makes racist remark. Here’s the reason she cited | Mint – Mint

Vivek Ramaswamy, the Indian-American Republican politician who suspended his US Presidential campaign, was informed by American author Ann Coulter in her podcast that she wouldn't have voted for him because of his Indian" roots.
The Republican leader, who dropped out from contesting in the 60th US Presidential elections this year, took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) over the author's racist remark and said that he respects Ms Coulter because "she had the guts to speak her mind."
Vivek Ramaswamy's post read, Ann Coulter told me flat-out to my face that she couldn't vote for me 'because you're an Indian,' even though she agreed with me more than most other candidates. "
He further added, "I disagree with her but respect she had the guts to speak her mind. It was a riveting hour. The TRUTH podcast is back."
Ann Coulter told the Indian-American leader at the beginning of the podcast, Fantastic opening monologue. I, too, am a fan of yours. I am going to make a point to make it fun. You're so bright and articulate. "
She added, "I guess I can call you articulate since you're not an American black - can't say that about them, it's derogatory - I agree with many, many things you say probably more than most other candidates. But I still would not have voted for you because you're an Indian."
Vivek Ramaswamy noted that the discussion between the two had some 'interesting' bits as he revealed the podcast to the public. His post on X read, "Ann Coulter challenged me. I challenged her. This episode will challenge you. You're not going to want to miss it."
On March 12, US President Joe Biden and former US President Donald Trump became the presumptive Democratic and Republican nominees. Vivek Ramaswamy backed out of the race for the Republican nomination and eventually ended up supporting Donald Trump's candidature.

Ann Coulter Tells Vivek Ramaswamy She Wouldn’t Vote for Him ‘Because You’re an Indian,’ Straight to His Face – TheWrap

Ann Coulter told Vivek Ramaswamy that she wouldnt have voted for him to be president because of his ethnic background as a child of Indian immigrants.
Oh, and I agreed with many, many things you said, during [your monologue] in fact, probably more than most other candidates when youre running for president, but I still would not have voted for you, because youre an Indian. Well get back to that, Coulter said after listening to Ramaswamys opening remarks about nationalism.
Ramaswamy, who was born in the United States, invited the conservative media commentator onto his podcast series The Truth Podcast, where the two were set to discuss the concept of nationalism, its tiers, the history of the idea and how immigrants fit into the movement as it relates to their ethnicity.
Before digging in with her comments, she complimented his introduction to the episode, which was titled Ann Coulter on the N Word: Nationalism.
That was a fantastic opening monologue. I, too, am a fan of yours, though Im going to make a point of disagreeing with you so that it will be fun. You are so bright and articulate, and I guess I can call you articulate since youre not an American Black, Coulter said as Ramaswamy chuckled. Cant say that about them. Thats derogatory. That was a great opening segment, lots of things to talk about there.
.@AnnCoulter told me flat-out to my face that she couldnt vote for me because youre an Indian, even though she agreed with me more than most other candidates. The two did eventually make their way back to Coulter saying she wouldnt have voted for Ramaswamy. While he said he feels citizenship should be based around someones loyalty to the nation theyre part of or the nation they wish to be part of, Coulter explained what she believes in takes to be an American citizen.
The core around which the nations values were formed, is the WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant). Weve never had a president, who didnt have at least partial English ancestry, she uttered.
On that axis of citizenship, what does ethnicity have to do with the matter? I think youd be well-served, and maybe this could be a great platform for you to do it, to make the case for why that what you put it WASP-basis for the American identity, Ramaswamy replied.
Anyone can adopt this. President is different. You have to be national-born, as you know. Im only talking about president of the United States, Coulter continued, saying she believes the presidency should only be given to someone who is a natural-born-citizen and that lots of our very best immigrants do not understand the Second Amendment or the First Amendment.
It was so important that you had this deep, generation-wide loyalty, Coulter said. Its noticeable that large percentages of immigrants, and children of immigrants, really dont get that. And I think that is the point of having natural-born-citizens only for president.
Ramaswamy launched his run for presidency on Feb. 21, 2023, as a candidate in the 2024 Republican primary. The 38-year-old dropped out on Jan. 15 and later fully endorsed Donald Trump.

Ann Coulter Gets Racist With Vivek Ramaswamy – NewsOne
Posted: at 2:46 am
Source: Variety / Getty
On Wednesday, former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and the poster child for unabashed racism and the Fox News Karen phenotype, Ann Coulter, got together for a nice, wholesome I Heart White Nationalism discussion, and, for whatever reason, they thought it was a thing the world needed to see, so it was aired on Ramaswamys podcast, Truth(which you can be sure is every bit as inappropriately titled as Donald Trumps Truth Social platform).
After absurdly identifying the word nationalism, as the N-word that youre not allowed to say anymore, Ramaswamy introduced Coulter as somebody Ive been fascinated by for a long time, and Coulter returned the compliment.
I too am a fan of yours, though Im going to make a point of disagreeing with you so that it will be fun, she said. You are so bright and articulateand I guess I can call you articulate since youre not an American Black, cant say that about them, thats derogatory.
First of all, Coulter literally couldnt get three full sentences into this discussion without bringing Black people up out of nowhere while we were somewhere minding our collective business in a way she may or may not have found to be articulate. Its amazing the way even the most passionately anti-Black white people can deny or mock the history of anti-Blackness that would contextualize the reason telling Black people they are so articulate is inherently racist.
Anyway, Ramaswamy laughed off the commentas one would expect from the guy who thinks Juneteenth is a redundant holiday because MLK Day already existsbut his facial expression changed up afterCoulter un-shockingly revealed that shes also demonstrably racist against brown people. Coulter admitted that shes so racist, in fact, that even though she agreed with Ramaswamy quite often during his bid for the Republican nomination for president, she never would have voted for him because he is not a white person.
I agreed with many, many things you said when you were running for president, but I still would not have voted for you because youre an Indian, Coulter said.
There is a core national identity that is the identity of the WASP, she continued, referring to the acronym for White Anglo-Saxon Protestant. And that doesnt mean we cant take anyone else in a Sri Lankan or a Japanese, or an Indian. But the core around which the nations values are formed is the WASP.
Now, Coulter may or may not have realized that she had just quite literally explained white supremacy in a nutshell while exemplifying the reasons critical race theory exists and DEI is still necessary, but she continued to discuss how the U.S. presidency has nearly always been as exclusively Caucasian as her dinner parties likely are, and Ramaswamy simply nodded along.
Hitler had soupthat doesnt mean we shouldnt have soup, Coulter said in a whitesplanation of why white nationalism should exist that could only be more neo-Nazi-esque if she has simply shouted, HEIL HITLER! NOW, BRING ME SOUP! Coulter also whined that the only people who are not allowed to be proud of their ethnic group do tend to be Anglo Saxons, despite the fact that she had just ranted about how the entire nations values are built around whiteness.
After the show, Ramaswamy posted on X that he disagreed with Coulter but he respects that she had the guts to speak her mind. (You know that one Django Unchained meme with Samuel L. Jackson distraughtly embracing Leonardo DiCaprio in their roles? Well, you know where Im going with that.)
Mind you, Ramaswamy once likened Democratic Rep.Ayanna Pressley to the modern KKK just because Pressley is a Black woman who is unabashedly pro-Black. Yet, here he is praising a loud and proud KKKaren who wears her pro-white racism right on her sleeve, and even after she told him to his face that hes too brown for the Oval Office, hes essentially responding like: OMG, youre such a brave little white supremacist, I love youuuuuuu!
Again, none of this is surprising. When Ramaswamy was running for president, he once, during a GOP debate, promoted the white nationalist great replacement theory, which theorizes that white people in America are being systematically replaced by non-white immigrants. Despite how Coulter spelled it out for him, its almost as if Ramaswamy is completely unaware that the face of the declared enemy in the great replacement theoryis his face.

Ann Coulter ‘Spews Racism’ At Vivek Ramaswamy: "I Would Not Have Voted For You Because You’re ‘Indian’! – India Currents
Posted: at 2:46 am
Right-wing commentator Ann Coulterjoined ex-GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamyon his podcast TRUTH on Wednesday and declared she would not have voted for him because hes Indian, even though she claimed to be a fan.
Coulter defended her stance which she claimed is rooted in the WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant ) tradition on which the countrys national identity and core values are based.
Though she agreed with many of Ramaswamys views on the campaign trail added Coulter, I still would not have voted for you because youre an Indian.
Her bigoted remarks did not seem to faze Ramaswamy who introduced Coulter on the podcast as someone with thoughtful perspectives on the future direction of the country and the conservative movement.
Ramaswamy, a son of immigrants, dropped out of the presidential race after his campaign failed to get traction and went on to endorse former president Donald Trump.
Ramaswamy countered by arguing he and Coulter were both opposed to dual citizenship. Still, immigrants like him were likely to have more loyalty to the country than resentful seventh-generation WASPs.
However, one commentator on X called Ramaswamy out saying, Vivek, you made it clear that you want America to be more accessible to Indian immigrants at a time when immigration restriction is a popular issue. Ann is correct to point that you have a vested ethnic interest in facilitating the great replacement.
On the podcast, Coulter continued with unfettered racist comments about black Americans. She called Ramaswamy bright and articulate saying I guess I can call you articulate since youre not an American Black cant say that about them, its derogatory.
Her remarks drew the ire of readers on X who called her a bigot and Indophobic.
Ramaswamy later acknowledged Coulter on X for having the guts to speak her mind. @Ann Coulter told me flat-out to my face that she couldnt vote for me because youre an Indian, even though she agreed with me more than most other candidates.
Heres how we ended our 1-hour conversation, he posted, I told Ann its too bad weve reached a moment when many conservatives now define our views solely as a reactionary response to the left, instead of defining our own vision on our own terms. Theres a time & place to be reactionary, but its not an end in itself.
Ramaswamys reaction astonished Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.). On X he posted I wasnt surprised that Ann Coulter made a racist statement about Vivek. What surprised me is the weakness and lack of self-respect of @VivekGRamaswamy. Hes actually promoting this episode and praising the person who spewed raw racism to his face. I feel sorry for Vivek.

Far-right commentator Ann Coulter was slammed after making a bonkersalthough on-brandadmission to former 2024 GOP presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy, saying that despite agreeing with him on "many things," she "still would not have voted" for him. Why, you ask?
Her racist reasoning:
Coulter made the remark during an appearance on Ramswamy's Truth podcast following a rather spirited introduction from Ramaswamy, who described her as someone he's been "fascinated by for a long time."
According to Ramaswamy, the podcast episode, titled: "The N Word: Nationalism," would serve as a platform for Coulter to offer insights into questions about "the future direction of our country, our conservative movement, and on this question about nationalism and national identity."
Coulter responded:
You can hear what Coulter said in the video below.

Ramaswamy, a billionaire entrepreneur who suspended his bid for the presidency after coming in fourth in the Iowa caucuses, is Indian-American.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Indian-Hindu parents from the Palakkad district in the Indian state of Kerala. He was raised in Ohio before going on to study at Harvard and later Yale Law School.
Ramaswamy nonetheless listened to Coulter's remark that there is "a core national identity that is the identity of the WASP," using an acronym for White Anglo-Saxon Protestant.
She further justified her racism, adding:
Ramaswamy later noted that he and Coulter both oppose dual citizenship. Ramaswamy argued that the essence of citizenship is which nation to whom you had your undivided loyalty. To that end, he acknowledged that he "may fail to fully understand" Coulter's position, questioning "why on that axis of citizenship, what does ethnicity have to do with the matter?
After the interview, Ramaswamy defended his decision to feature Coulter on his podcast, writing the following message on X, formerly Twitter:
You can see his post below.
It didn't go over well, with many calling out Coulter's racism and his subsequent reaction.
This is not the first time Coulter has come under fire for making racist remarks about Indian-Americans.
Last year, after former South Carolina Republican Governor Nikki Haleywho was born in South Carolina to Indian parents and has had lifelong residency in the United Statessaid the United States is not a "racist" or "evil" nation, she found herself on the receiving end of a racist tirade from Coulter.
Ironically, shortly after Haley issued her remarks, Coulter said Haley should "go back to [her] own country," ignoring the fact that Haley was born in the South Carolina town of Bamberg. She said Haley's "candidacy did remind me that I need to immigrate to India so I can demand they start taking down parts of their history.
Coulter went on to call Haley a preposterous creature and bimbo and complained about Haley's decision, while still Governor of South Carolina, to take down the Confederate flag from the grounds of the South Carolina Statehouse in the wake of a race-based mass shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston.

"I agreed with many many things you said," she told the biotech engineer, before admitting, "but I still would not have voted for you, because you're an Indian."
Her comment came after Ramaswamy discussed the meaning of American loyalty, arguing that the Conservative movement was entering a "fork in the road" when it came to the idea of nationalism.
Ramaswamy said that he favored a "libertarian breed of nationalism" over what he viewed as a "kind of reactionary nationalism" preferred by those who "believe that there is some element of ethnic heritage that defines what it means to be an American."

Coulter told the host that she would use the word "citizenship" in place of "nationalism," and argued that "the only people who are not allowed to be proud of their ethnic group do tend to be Anglo-Saxons."
"Oh boy, you can't be proud of being white," she said, adding, "You do see basically every other ethnic group very proud of their ethnic group."

‘Because you are Indian’: Conservative tells Vivek Ramaswamy why she wouldn’t have voted for him; he reacts – Business Today
Posted: at 2:46 am
US elections: Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who announced the end of his campaign for presidential run in January this year, was told by a conservative media pundit and author that she wouldnt have voted for him because he is an Indian.
Ann Coulter was speaking to Ramaswamy on his podcast, The TRUTH Podcast when she made the statement that has been widely panned. Ramaswamy reacted to her comment too but lauded her for speaking her mind.
After he introduced her in the podcast, Coulter said, Thanks for having me, that was a fantastic opening monologue. I too am a fan of yours, so Im going to make a point of disagreeing with you so it will be fun. You are so bright and articulate, and I guess I can call you articulate since youre not an American Black. Cant say that about them, thats derogatoryI agreed with many, many things you said during in fact, probably more than most other candidates when you were running for president, but I still would not have voted for you because youre an Indian. Well get back to that.
She went on to explain as Ramaswamy continued listening to her with a neutral expression. Coulter said that the core national identity in America is of the WASP White Anglo-Saxon Protestants. She said it does not mean that a Sri Lankan or a Japanese or an Indian cant be taken in but the core around which the nations values are formed is the WASP.
Coulter said that America has never had a president who didnt have at least partial English ancestry. Weve only had one Catholic president. There was only one Catholic signatory to the Declaration of Independence. They were all not only protestants, but pretty much Presbyterian, she said.
Ramaswamy argued that an immigrant or children of immigrants have greater loyalty to America than a seventh-generation American who hates the country.
Ann Coulter told me flat-out to my face that she couldnt vote for me because youre an Indian, even though she agreed with me more than most other candidates. I disagree with her but respect she had the guts to speak her mind. It was a riveting hour. The TRUTH podcast is back, said Ramaswamy, sharing a clip of the conversation.
In another response, Ramaswamy said that citizenship is about loyalty to one nation, which is why dual citizenship is an incoherent concept. But in America its not about ethnicity either, he said.
