28-03-2012 00:08 The objectives of this project were to survey and examine the current practices in course development approaches, instructional design practices, training strategies and training materials across domain specific areas in the Asian distance education institutions; to ascertain the needs of the distance learning (DL) institutions for further training in instructional design across domain/ discipline areas and levels, and across various media types; to develop appropriate design approaches, prototypes, training resources, blended training strategies for instructional design across domain/ discipline areas and levels, and across various media -mix, multimedia and online learning; to try out the newly-developed designs for their feasibility, accessibility, and effectiveness; and to finalize the resources for making available in print, multimedia and as online resources at the PAN Collaboratory site. Specific attention shall be paid to issues of gender, culture and age from the points of view of instructional design for teaching and learning.
