Quincy University is offering local educators reduced rates to use its Health and Fitness Center.

A QU news release said the university is making the gesture "to show our appreciation to those who have dedicated themselves to educating our young people."

The university will hold an open house for Quincy educators from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday. The educators will be able to tour and use the Health and Fitness Center facilities for no charge that day. They will also be able to meet with personal trainers to talk about health-related matters and exercise programs.

The Health and Fitness Center features three multipurpose gymnasium courts, a 3,600-square-foot fitness room, at least 17 cardio machines, an aerobics room, an indoor walking and running track, two racquetball courts, and a six-lane swimming pool with whirlpool.

The reduced prices will be available to full-time teachers, administrators and their immediate families. The price for a one-year individual membership will be $250, plus $250 for a spouse and $150 for a child. The price for a sixth-month individual membership will be $150, plus $150 for a spouse and $100 for a child.

According to QU, eligible educators must work full time in Quincy's public school system or in any of Quincy's parochial schools.
