QR Codes have fast become one of the most powerful ways to engage consumers. Their ability to contain information such as long web site addresses means that specific engagement and immediate tracking become possible. Concept TV were the first to exploit QR Code technology in TV advertising. Using the CAIT Analytics app, combined with Concept #39;s own QR Code for TV software, Concept produced a TV ad featuring a trackable QR Code for an upcoming British band. The Band were keen to try new ways to reach and engage with their target market. The band and their label backed the idea and Concept produced an HD TV Advert complete with QR code linking viewers directly to a music download and special bonus tracks. The band and Concept TV were rewarded with substantial coverage on BBC1 #39;s 6 #39;oclock news when their pioneering use of the QR codes had further exposure. Concept TV now utilise the successful QR Code strategy in most of its DRTV campaigns. This includes other music artists such as the iconic Joan Armatrading and across other sectors such as health and fitness equipment, cosmetics, toys and many others. Concept TV didn #39;t invent the QR Code, digital downloads or free music giveaways - but it was their unique combined application of these strategies linked with an understanding of the target audience that made it innovative and successful.
