WESTON

At 29, Stephen "Jak" Jakobot seemed about to savor the sweet taste of success.

With demand for his organic Swami Juice growing, he and business partner Kelly Koleos had recently invested in a $20,000 juicer and rented a larger warehouse in Boca Raton, where the couple lived.

"We had high expectations," said Koleos.

On Saturday evening, Jakobot was killed in a single-car crash on Alligator Alley in western Broward County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol .

While Jakobot was driving toward Fort Myers, a tire on his 1996 Toyota 4Runner blew out at 8:30 p.m. near mile marker 37, causing the car to overturn and strike a tree.

Jakobot, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, where he was pronounced dead.

In the car with Jakobot was his dog Layla, an 8-year-old shepherd mix. Layla survived and was reunited Sunday afternoon with Koleos.

"He was a generous, loving, honest, somebody who would do anything for anybody," said Koleos, his partner of more than four years.

Both taught yoga at the Barkan Method of Hot Yoga in Fort Lauderdale and in Boca Raton.
