Imagine balancing on one leg with a foot behind your knee and both arms over your head. Now, imagine holding that pose while standing on a narrow board floating on a lake, and youll understand the art of paddleboard yoga.

A group of a dozen or so personal trainers and yoga experts from a Bristol business called Personal Training Transformations practiced yoga on stand-up paddleboards on Silver Lake in Bristol Township June 29.

This is our third year doing it. We do paddleboard training. Our theory is, you dont need to work out in a gym. Just work out and stay active said Shea Cialella, operations manager of PT Trainers.

Performing yoga on stand-up paddleboards demonstrates what people can achieve when theyve reached advanced levels of balance and core-conditioning. Its also a great way to enjoy Silver Lake, Cialella said.

The people in this county are not involved with the water like they should be, or could be. We live on the Delaware River. We have this Silver Lake that used to be bath springs, she said referring to the history of Bristol. Strangely, we dont utilize the water for all the resources that it can offer to us, Cialella said.

The stand-up paddleboard yoga classes last an hour and fifteen minutes. Its cool to watch, she said.

Typically, people fall into the water at some point because its hard to maintain balance for the entire amount of time, she said. The water is about five feet deep at the section of Silver Lake that PT Transformations uses.
