STANHOPE RDA Fitness located in Stanhope will be holding a yoga benefit class on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 7 to 9 p.m., for yoga teacher Jody Domerstad, who recently underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor.

On Jan. 9, Domerstad was teaching a class at Pandora Healing Center in Hawthorne when her right hand began to act erratically and she started stuttering.

It was just a random sound, said Domerstad, who recalled that her chest was pounding.

Domerstads students tried communicating with her to no avail.

In my mind I was saying: call 9-1-1, but Domerstads body was not in sync with her mind. She was having a seizure.

At that point I realized I had no control over what was happening.

A practitioner of yoga for more than 20 years, Domerstad started yoga for the mind-body connection. And by her own account yoga saved her life.

She relaxed x, sat down and eventually the episode passed. But that wasnt the end of it, not by a long shot.
