Five Rivers MetroParks and PracticeYOGA with the help of GO W/ THE FLOW founders Ben Rivet and Tori Reynolds are starting this years National Bike Week off with an ohm.

GO W/ THE FLOW, a unique music and yoga experience, will take over RiverScape on Tuesday, May 14 at 6 p.m. for an evening of free yoga, raffles and prizes. Tom Helbig, special events and development coordinator of Five Rivers MetroParks said its the perfect way to get the mind body and soul ready for a week of biking.

GWTF Bike Week brings together people from throughout the area who care about their wellness, our parks and, maybe most of all, our sense of community, said Kathi Kizirnis, an Experience Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) and co-owner and director of PracticeYOGA. Its fun, energizing, informative and a great way to connect with the energy thats building downtown.

Meditation will meet music at the GO W/ THE FLOW event. Rivet will play acoustic guitar while Reynolds teaches the class. The duo toured the U.S. and Canada last summer, leading more than 100 classes, demonstrations at yoga studios and festivals.

Kizirnis said anyone can participate in the GO W/ THE FLOW class.

We encourage those with no yoga experience to take it easy, do what they can and have fun. Last year we saw experienced yogis, total beginners, kids and kids-at-heart all ages!

Practice Yoga will have a limited number of mats available, but participants are asked to bring their own. Bicycling to the event is also encouraged and free valet parking will be provided for bikers.

Those who dont want to practice their downward dog pose are welcome to come get information on MetroParks and Bike Week, and enjoy the park, the music and group energy, said Kizirnis.

Its an opportunity to do outdoor yoga in downtown Dayton with a huge crowd, said Helbig. Last year we had 237 people. To be able to feed off of the energy of that kind of crowd in an urban environment is a pretty unique experience.

The event is at RiverScape MetroPark 111 E. Monument Avenue, Dayton. Tickets are free. For more information, contact Practice Yoga at 937-321-7676 or visit http://www.practiceyogadayton.com. For more information on GO W/ THE FLOW, visit gowtheflow.org
