DETROIT -

Downward dog and locust poses replaced bruising tackles and spectacular touchdowns at Detroit's Ford Field as yoga took over the turf.

About 2,000 people took part Saturday in the "Yoga Rocks Ford Field" event, according to MLive.com.

The mass yoga class on the home field of the Detroit Lions drew members of yoga studios from across the Detroit area.

"It doesn't matter what you're feeling, just that you feel," instructor Eric Paskel told participants. Paskel is also the founder of Yoga Shelter in Midtown.

Cindy Zellner of Royal Oak, north of Detroit, said more people should incorporate yoga into their everyday lives.

"It doesn't matter what age you are, there's a type of yoga for everybody and I think it's really, really good for you," she told MLive.com Saturday.

The event benefited the Michigan-based Yoga By Design Foundation, which provides fitness programs for the underserved.
