Fundraiser to benefit yoga for people with MS

Yoga is a mind-body practice originating from India that involves series of poses held to increase both strength, balance and flexibility. Some people find yoga increases their energy level, improves their mood and much more. Yoga is highly recommended for multiple sclerosis (MS) because it can be adapted to one's ability.

On Saturday, November 10th, a fundraiser dinner is being held for the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, "Party with a Purpose," to raise funds for therapeutic yoga for people with MS. The fundraising dinner will be held at the Somerset Inn, 2601 W. Big Beaver Rd, Troy, MI 48084 starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $75 and include dinner, drink, silent auction and entertainment by Steve Acho. You can register for the event by clicking here.

Yoga helps people with MS by keeping muscles and joints nimble and loose. Muscle tightness is common with MS sufferers. Yoga can help in other ways too: relaxation, elimination of tension, reduced fatigue as well as a sense of camaraderie. The breathing technique taught in yoga can help with relaxation and stress-reduction, especially in times of great pain.
