French Quarter

You usually have to budget for yoga, but that's not the case at one place in the French Quarter. Classes there are free and there's a little something extra. Vanessa Bolano has the story.

It's not your typical concert. This time pianist Peter Nu plays meditational jazz for yoga students.

The French Market District has teamed up with the Jazz Park near Cafe Du Monde to offer free yoga classes accompanied by live music. It's a first around here catering to both tourists and locals.

New Orleans resident Denise Moore says, I've been wanting to do yoga for a while, but it's sometimes pricey at the studios so it's exciting to find out about this twice a week.

The classes are an hour long. They're offered every Wednesday and Friday at 9:30 morning and while there's a schedule in the works for December it hasn't been released.

Instructor Susan Landry says, I would positively feel with this pilot program in November, and with some of the feedback we will have with the students that we're here today we would extend that into December and hopefully next year.

Inside this makeshift studio Landry offers one on one guidance, takes you out of your comfort zone, and helps you crack a smile. This while live music plays nonstop.
