The CDC released the results of a national fitness survey today that finds that most kids arent getting enough exercise.

The study finds that only one in four kids nationwide gets the recommended hour or more of daily exercise. Alexia Clarke is program coordinator of the New Jersey based STEPS For Kids, an organization that fights childhood obesity. She says the factors include too much technology and too little outdoor time.

Were seeing less physical activity in schools which would be a pretty consistent way for kids to meet that time. The lack of recess is something that the Institute of Medicine talked about last year with the weight of the nation as a need that has to be addressed bringing more physical activity into schools.

Clarke says the obesity rate among children in New Jersey has stabilized in recent years but adds they are still dealing with the problem of kids who are already obese.
