County to conduct disaster drill at the airport

MISSOULA, Mont. -

Missoula County in agreement with the Missoula International Airport is conducting an excercise which will simulate a plane crash at the airport on May 31st.

According to a press release, this drill is designed to test Multi-agency coordination for a disaster occurring in Missoula County. Over 100 volunteer role players, responders and agency personnel will be participating in the drill.

First responders are going to have the opportunity to test their ability to suppress a fuselage fire and treat numerous plane crash victims. The release states that local hospitals and the American Red Cross will be executing their Family Assistance Center plans as well a patient identification and tracking between both facitiies.

The Drill will begin at 9 AM at the Missoula International Airport, smoke from the training prop may be visible to passing motorist, as well, numerous emergency response vehicles will be on site at the west end of the airport. At 1 PM, the drill will move to the two local hospitals.
