Rev. Karen Lindvig Sermon "Love Wins" mdash;Seattle Unity Church mdash;12-09-2012
seattleunity.org mdash;Reverend Karen Lindvig #39;s sermon "Love Wins" explores the role love plays in living a fulfilling life. She uses the story of the Wise Men in relationship to King Herod and the Christ child to describe how we may grow spiritually, and help society improve as well. Karen also weaves together the idea of King Herod as a metaphor for how we create our own pain; the writing of Eckhart Tolle; the harmful role of certain ways of creating and responding to pain; and how to make the shift to operating from our Essential and Higher Self. She also takes the members of the Seattle Unity Spiritual Community through a series of brief writing exercises to practice the lessons of this sermon. She concludes with the idea of creating a compass of joy by which we find our way in our lives. Key quotations related to this sermon Matthew 2:1: After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him." 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Barbara Marx Hubbard: "Simply remember the bliss, and the needle of your attention swings immediately toward it. Stay within yourself or with #39;two or more #39; friends who can resonate with and mirror back to you your Essential Self."
