Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation.
Zig Ziglar, motivational speaker.
The Susquehannock and Kennard-Dale football teams can only hope that ol Ziggyknew what he was talking about.
Both the Warriors and Rams have major opportunities onFriday night.
Theres little doubt that Susquehannock head coach Steve Wiles and Kennard-Dale head coach Chris Grube will do their absolute best to make sure their teams are properly prepared.
The success part of Ziglars equation, however, will be a little more difficult to achieve.

Thats because Susquehannock and K-Dwill each hit the road to take on the two teams generally regarded as the favorites for the York-Adams Division II football championship.
Susquehannock (3-1) travels to Gettysburg (3-1), while K-D (3-1) visits York Suburban (4-0).
Returning to southern York County with upset victories will be daunting tasks. If Susquehannock and K-D can achieve those challenging feats, however, both teams will stamp themselves as legitimateD-II title contenders and will solidify their chances of making the District 3 Class 4-A playoffs. Theyll also likely set off some major celebrations down near the Maryland border.
In the latest District 3 4-A power ratings, Suburban is No. 4, Gettysburg is No. 8, K-D is No. 10 and Susquehannock is No. 13. Only 10 teams will make the 4-A district playoffs, so every game is critical, especially for Gettysburg, K-D and Susquehannock.
Susquehannock, Gettysburg and Suburban opened D-II play last week with easy victories. K-D, meanwhile, will makeits 2019 D-II debut on Friday. That means none of the four teams has yet tasted defeat in D-II play.
So, put mildly, there will be a lot on the line on Friday night.
Here are a few things to look for in each of the showdowns:
Gettysburg head football coach Matt Heiser.(Photo: Pavoncello Media Productions, The York Dispatch)
Susquehannock at Gettysburg: The York County Warriors could very easily have entered this game at 4-0. Only a third-week 17-14 stumble against a 1-3 York Catholic team has blemished Susquehannocks record.
Susquehannock, however, rebounded nicely with a 35-13 beating of Dover last week. That gave both Warrior teams three double-digit wins on the season. Gettysburgs only loss came to traditional District 3 power Bishop McDevitt, 28-9.
Gettysburg is the defending D-II champion and ran roughshod over division foes a season ago, winning each of its D-II games by at least 20 points. That included a 40-3 triumph at Susquehannock.
The gap between Gettysburg and the rest of the division, however, appears to have narrowed this season. The Adams County team doesnt appear to be quite as explosive this season. Thats to be expected with the loss of Ammon Robinson, the 2018 D-II Offensive Player of the Year, who graduated after setting a school record with 1,534 yards rushing.
Still, Gettysburg is not without offensive weapons, most notably Charles Warren, who is averaging more than 10 yards per carry and nearly 19 yards per reception. He has more than 500 yards from scrimmage.
Susquehannock will counter with an offense featuring bruising 6-foot, 200-pound fullback Daniel Clapp, who has rushed for nearly 500 yards and is averaging more than 8 yards per carry.
It would not be surprising, however, if this turned into a defensive struggle. Susquehannock is No. 1 in the league in scoring defense at 9.3 points per game, while Gettysburg is No. 4 at 14.3 ppg.
Gettysburg is led by 6-3, 235-pound linebacker Austin Heiser, the reigning Y-A D-II Defensive Player of the Year and the son of Gettysburg head coach Matt Heiser. Senior linebacker Luke Ohmann powers Susquehannocks stout defense.
York Suburban head football coach Andy Loucks.(Photo: Pavoncello Media Productions, The York Dispatch)
Kennard-Dale at York Suburban: This game could be a more wide-open affair.
Andy Loucks' Suburban crew is No. 2 in the league in scoring at 39.5 ppg, while K-D is No. 3 at 39.0 ppg.
Both teams feature standout running backs. K-Ds Wyatt McCleary is No. 2 in the league in rushing with 720 yards and is averaging 10 yards per carry. Suburbans Savion Harrison is No. 3 in league rushing with 678 yards and is averaging 9.8 yards per tote.
The star backs will offer different styles. McCleary is a 6-foot, 205-pound fullback, while Harrison is a 5-9, 170-pound speedster.
Suburbans unbeaten start has been made even more impressive because the Trojans have been dealing with injuries andillnesses to standout linemen Garth Barclay (a Syracuse recruit) and Nasier Spellman. Both, however, played last week in a 42-7 win over Eastern York. That could be bad news for K-D. The 6-7 Barclay tips the scales at about 255 pounds, while Spellman is listed at 6-4, 280. The two forma formidable duo.
The two teams have played a pair of thrillers in recent years. In 2018, the Trojans won, 31-25, while K-D triumphed in 2017,13-12.
The Rams, however, are searching for their first D-II win since 2017. K-D won four games overall in 2018but went 0-6 in D-II action. K-D would like nothing better than to end its seven-game D-II losing streak with a win against an unbeaten Suburban side that is outscoring its foes by more than 26 points per game.
Formula for success: By 10 p.m. Friday night, we should know how Susquehannock and Kennard-Dale fared in their challenges.
Did they take advantage of their opportunities? Were they completely prepared? Did they meet with success?
Mr.Ziglar has provided them with the winning formula. The rest is up to the Warriors and the Rams.

Your financial goals: Dream or reality? – The Borneo Post
Posted: at 11:43 am
If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things. Albert Einsteen
When I search for the meaning of a goal, the simple definition I get is desired results a person envision, plans and commits to achieve.
Whenever I ask my clients on what their financial goals are, the common answer I receive is; to buy a bigger house, to buy a new car, to go on a world tour, to build their childrens education fund, for their retirement fund and the list goes on.
I immediately ask them; if you cant achieve any of your goals which you have listed down, will your life will be less happy? They start looking at me and ponder on what Im trying to say!
Some even start thinking if I am here to help them achieve these goals or if I am merely wasting their time.
Financial goals are what we want to achieve in life, and theyre much more meaningful than just what we need to accomplish to survive. Unlike daily routines or short-term wants, financial goals drive our behaviours over the long run.
Financial goals should help us determine what we want to experience in terms of ourlife value. Financial goals should give us a sense of direction and make us accountable as we strive for happiness and well-being.
Have you thought about your financial goals can bring value to your life besides the monetary benefits? Well, here are some of the values it brings to you;
High aspiration and motivation
The action of setting financial goals and the attention we put into developing them leads our interest to thewhy, how, andwhatare our aspirations. As such, when we realise our aspiration, it immediately gives us something to focus on and creates a positive impact to our motivation level.
On the contrary, when we set our financial goals without any aspirations, then these goals remain merely a dream without developing into a reality.
Setting financial goals just for the sake of doing it wont drive the actions that lead us to success.
Let me give you a real-life example; you have two goals where the first one is to climb Mount Everest and the second is to buy a brand-new car.
Both these goals will financially cost you almost the same amount of money.
There is nothing wrong in both goals, but in my personal opinion, in the long run, the first goal contains the inner sense of achievement and happiness that you may not derive from getting a brand-new car as we can still substitute the brand-new car with something of a lower cost.
Clarity and focus
Clarityis knowing exactly what you want to achieve. Financial goals develop clarity and answers some important questions on what our goals are, by when you want to achieve them and how much you would need to invest in them.
Knowing the answers for these questions give absolute clarity and enables you to decide on what you need to do next.
Staying focused is a critical attribute that allows us to begin a financial goal without procrastination, consistent in giving attention and putting effort until we achieve it.
Staying focused helps us concentrate in the midst of distractions and setbacks towards sustaining the effort and energy needed to reach our goals.
Once you have clarity and focus you will be able to work towards your goals no matter what may come your way. Lets compare a GPS system in your car; a GPS system in your car will show your current location and the destination you want to reach.
The GPS gets you from where you are to where you want to be. Clarity is where you want to go. Staying focused is doing what you need to do to get the car to its destination; following the speed limit, wearing your seat belt, etc.
Every choice you make behind the wheel will either get you closer to your destination, or further away.
To further ascertain, the GPS is the guide, which will shorten your travelling time and ensures you dont get lost, end up driving aimlessly whilst wasting fuel at the same time.
Take control of your life
When we dont set financial goals, we will spend our whole life running up and down and not achieving anything. If we dont understand who we are and what we want, our surrounding environment will influence us to be the way it wants us to be.
Many people today are moving in a robotic life. Even though they work hard, they dont feel like they are getting what they want.
Thats because they dont have a direction of where they want to go and what they want to achieve.
When you start to set financial goals and think about what you want, you break out of the auto-pilot mode and start living a life ofyour consciouscreation.
Instead of letting others tell you what to do, you proactively take chargeand think about whatyouwant for yourself.
With each passing year, we become a year older and wiser, time passes as the clock is always ticking.
As precious as time, financial goals with specific measures and timelines should develop meaningful and memorable life experiences, besides creating monetary value.
Financial goals need to reflect your strengths and weaknesses. Financial goals need to help you achieve your highest potential. According to Zig Ziglar, What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.

"Zig Ziglar epitomizes determination, perseverance, excellence, and a loving Christian spirit more than anyone I know! The world would be a better place if more of us were just like him."--Kenneth H. Cooper, M.D., The Cooper Clinic, Dallas, Texas
Zig Ziglar, the motivational speaker who has galvanized audiences around the world and written more than a dozen perennially popular books, brings that same unbounded energy and clarity of vision to this candid, inspiring account of his own life and the forces that shaped it.
Every year, Zig Ziglar travels all over the world delivering a resounding message of hope and commitment in forums ranging from high-powered business conferences and church leadership assemblies to youth conventions and educational gatherings. In Zig, Ziglar chronicles another kind of journey: his own transformation from a struggling, not terribly successful salesman to the sales champion of several different companies, and finally to his current position as one of the world's best-known and most highly regarded motivational speakers and trainers. As he describes his experiences, he brings to life the essence of his teachings: You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.
At the heart of Ziglar's story are the people who taught him the importance of balancing a commitment to hard work with compassion for others. His first teacher was his mother, who raised him alone after the early death of his father, and introduced him to the principles and values he has honored for the rest of his life. Her lessons were reinforced by many othersfrom the men and women who became his business mentors to the friends and spiritual leaders who comforted and supported him when things got tough. Paying tribute to each of them, Ziglar zeroes in on the philosophy and traits that have enabled him to achieve success in business and in his personal life: discipline, hard work, common sense, integrity, commitment, and an infectious sense of humor.
Ziglar's speaking engagements and seminars along with a wide array of audio and video materials, books, and training manuals, have helped to trigger positive changes in small businesses, Fortune 500 companies, U.S. government agencies, nonprofit associations, religious organizations, schools, and prisons. At once engaging and enlightening, Zig provides a riveting portrait of the man who has achieved so much by embracing the simple but profound goal of helping others.
Zig Ziglar is absolutely one of the most amazing people God ever created! He has been the Billy Graham of encouragement and motivation for untold numbers of people around the world. His autobiography is just that- a book that will encourage you and motivate you to be all that your Heavenly Creator wants you to be. Read it and you will surely find yourself at the top!--James Merritt, president of the Southern Baptist Convention
Zig Ziglar is the author of twenty books on personal growth, leadership, sales, faith, family, and success, including See You at the Top, Raising Positive Kids in a Negative World, Over the Top, Success for Dummies, and Confessions of a Grieving Christian. He has received the National Speakers Association Master of Influence Award and the Toastmaster International Golden Gavel Award, as well as the coveted Cavett Award for his contribution to the speaking profession. He lives in Texas with his wife, Jean.

Zig Ziglar – Motivational Speaker and Author
Posted: February 14, 2019 at 11:55 am
Zig Ziglar was a motivational speaker, sales trainer, best selling author and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Zig, real name, Hilary Hinton Ziglar, came from extremely humble beginnings, raised during the Great Depression in rural Mississippi by his widowed mother along side 10 siblings (his father and 11th sibling younger sister died within two days of each other in 1931). He started his career in sales but at the urging of a mentor, he turned his charismatic speaking as well as inspirational and witty story telling abilities into a full time motivational public speaking and corporate sales training career. In 1975, he organized his thoughts, speeches and stories into his first book, See You At the Top, which went on to sell more than 2 million copies and is still in print today. And, for nearly 40 years, Zig Ziglar remained at the top of the motivational speaking, book and corporate sales training world. Zig went to be with the Lord on November 28, 2012.
Zig was a devout Southern Baptist and throughout his career, he weaved Biblical truth into his speeches, books and trainings, indirectly sharing the Gospel to millions. Even though his audiences varied greatly, from corporate behemoths like GE and AT&T to small business luncheon crowds, and the topics he spoke and wrote about ranged from personal success to closing the sale, he was able to infuse Christianity in a professional and unobtrusive way. Rather than keep his faith quiet, Zig was able to share it with the world and reach an audience where the Gospel was not as prevalent; business, personal development and sales training.
For far too many successful entrepreneurs and business leaders, while their careers blossom, their personal lives suffer. Routed in Christ, Zig Ziglars personal life was as fruitful as his business life. He was happily married to his wife Jean, since age 18, and they had 4 children, Suzan, Tom, Julie and Cindy. Tom and Julie now carry on the Ziglar success training torch. His daughter Suzan tragically passed in 1995, prompting Zig to write the book, Confessions of a Grieving Christian.
Zig Ziglar is perhaps best known for his quotes. Some were iconic pieces of success wisdom, such as, You will get all you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want. and Expect the best. Prepare for the worst. Capitalize on what comes. Others infused his wonderful sense of humor, such as, This book is filled with adult language; honest, trust, character, integrity, and, People often say motivation doesnt last. Neither does bathing thats why we recommend it daily. Here are some other great quotes by Zig Ziglar:
Remember that failure is an event, not a person. There has never been a statue erected to honor a critic. If you go looking for a friend, youre going to find theyre scarce. If you go out to be a friend, youll find them everywhere. A goal properly set is halfway reached. Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude. If you learn from defeat, you havent really lost. Money wont make you happy but everybody wants to find out for themselves. If God would have wanted us to live in a permissive society He would have given us Ten Suggestions and not Ten Commandments.
Zig Ziglar was a true rags to riches Horatio Alger success story. He was an extraordinary communicator and a mighty man of God. He made an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of countless business and sales professionals and thankfully, the timeless wisdom he shared is being carried on by his family into the next generation. To learn more about his wonderful life, read ans savor the book, The Autobiography of Zig Ziglar.
