Sink your teeth into the Feast in the Field
Posted: at 11:56 pm
'OUR food, our health, our future' is the catch cry for the Clarence Valley's latest food event Feast In The Field on this Sunday
Event organisers have attracted huge interest and inquiries from foodies and growers from around the Northern Rivers region.
While tickets for the afternoon feast sold out weeks ago there are still places available for the morning session which features a masterclass for growers, chefs and produces who want to develop and grow their supply chains of native, local and organic produce.
Director for the Organic Matters Foundation (OMF) and host of the event Mike Smith said the committee was thrilled with the response from locals.
"We have had to make more places available for the industry morning session and encourage anyone who wants to learn or grow local, native and or organic food to book in ASAP," he said.
"With our inaugural event we wanted to develop relationships and build our local, native and organic food networks which supports the local and Northern Rivers economy.
"All our food for this event uses the 100 mile table principle and we really wanted to connect our farmers and food producers to our local chefs."
The morning masterclass features celebrated chef Clayton Donovan who will talk about the benefits of using native and local cuisine and produce that is grown seasonally.
Other morning key note speakers are from Macquarie University, Queen Bee Organics in QLD and local farmers who will share their stories and ideas.
One of the other food event organisers Gina Lopez said Feast In The Field also broke new ground as the first event of its kind to have a zero waste strategy in the Clarence Valley.
