This is Yoga, Your 1st Step Toward Transformation
Posted: at 6:47 am
Quote of the day: Yoga accepts. Yoga gives. April Vallei
I got this email from a recent graduate of our renowned Prana Power Yoga Teacher Training Program, and I can't say it any better than she did:
I wanted to share a moment that I had tonight first day post teacher training. I SA (volunteer as a Studio Assistant) every Monday night at 5:45pm at the Winchester Studio, I love it! I have gotten to know all the students that show up weekly. We had a new student come in tonight and he was so excited to try yoga. He mentioned that he quit smoking and he was ready to detox and start fresh. I welcomed him and told him he was in the right place. I suggested he set up in the middle or back of the room (he has never practiced an ounce of yoga), explained that the studio is heated, and that he can always take his time and rest as often as he needs.
At the end of class I made sure to walk over to him to see how he was doing and how he felt after his first class. He said he really enjoyed it but he was concerned he wasn't good enough and asked me when he would notice the change.I reminded him that this is yoga, and it is not about being good enough and that the first step to transformation is showing up to his mat. He then was asking me about poses and breath and I found it so easy to have this conversation with him. It clicked in my head that I am now a Yoga teacher and that was such an amazing feeling. I very much enjoyed the process of getting to where I am today and I am so excited to see where the future will lead me."
Sometimes we work hard toward a goal (work hard but try easy) and once we reach it, we immediately set another goal, without taking even a moment to take in the fact that we did it. Wow. We DID it!
We don't savor the moment and feel proud and excited. We forget to feel the essence of it, because we are on to the next thing.
The irony is that by savoring and feeling the essence, utilizing the Law of Attraction, we create the next thing even more quickly and easily.
Have the best day ever!
Namaste!
