Several disciples of Osho Rajneesh wearing malas forcefully enter his Pune ashram, one held for violence – Hindustan Times

Tension prevailed at Osho Commune on Wednesday as over 300 disciples of late spiritual guru Osho Rajneesh wearing sanyas malas forced their way into his ashram in Pune in protest against the purported plans by the management to sell the Ashram land.
On Wednesday afternoon, the followers belonging to the rival Maroon Army faction barged into the Osho International Meditation Centre (OIMC) located in Koregaon Park. Police officials were stationed outside the centre.
Assistant commissioner of police (Cantonment Division) RN Raje said that tension prevailed between the two groups of Oshos followers. The OSHO International Foundation (OIF) management which manages the affairs of the commune had given permission to the opposite camp to enter the premises for one day. However, the group wanted to get inside the Ashram on Wednesday which was not allowed by the management. This led to some of the disciples getting angry and resort to rioting.
One of the protestors became violent and tried to physically assault the police. He has been taken into custody and an FIR is being lodged, said Raje. The rival camp, however. has denied that man belonged to their group.
Smartana Patil, deputy commissioner of police (Zone II) said, A disciple, who is not a part of the group, became unruly, violent and tried to rough up police personnel on duty. We had to use force to evict him from the spot and bundled him into a police van.
The OIF and the rebel faction of Osho devotees have been at loggerheads over the sale of property and other assets of the late guru in India. The office of the charity commissioner of Mumbai, through newspaper advertisements published on October 10 last year, had invited fresh offers for the sale of two plots of the OIF.
Swami Chaitanya Keerti, one of the protesters said, The commune management had on Tuesday allowed the followers wearing malas to enter the premises but restricted them on Wednesday. As the disciples were entering the commune, there was a commotion wherein a man who is said to be an Indian origin US citizen allegedly uttered something out of aggression and was taken away by police. We do not know the man. However, we have our rights to the commune as ordained by our spiritual guru which cannot be denied by the commune management.
A police complaint was filed against the commune at the Koregaon Park police station stating that we must not be stopped from entering the commune wearing the mala which is our constitutional right, he said.
The police filed two FIRs with first against a protester for creating ruckus and stopping police from carrying out their duties under section 353 of IPC, and second FIR against around 120 protestors for rioting.
After gaining entry into the ashram, the man assaulted our police personnel when they tried to pacify him. We have registered an offence against him under Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and other relevant sections of IPC, said Vinayak Vetal, the senior police inspector, at Koregaon Park police station.
He added that one more offence has been registered against 120 Osho followers who had forcefully entered the ashram premise for allegedly manhandling the manager at the ashram. We have booked 100 to 120 people on relevant IPC charges, including rioting in which five to seven are named in the complaint and remaining are unidentified, he said.
Maa Amrit Sadhana, the spokesperson and one of the trustees of OIF, on Tuesday said, We allowed the entry in view of maintaining law and order as advised by the police. The management allowed them inside the commune with malas only for Tuesday but from Wednesday , the usual rules apply.
She further said that also Osho had done away with the practice of wearing mala as it was against his vision.

Two offences were registered at Koregaon Park police station on Wednesday night. The First Information Report (FIR) in the first case was registered on behalf of the management by Dhaneshkumar Joshi alias Swami Dhyanesh Bharti. Based on his complaint, the police booked around 120 rebel followers, of whom seven were identified by name. The police also booked a man identified as a reporter and invoked charges under Indian Penal Code sections pertaining to unlawful assembly, rioting, voluntarily causing hurt, trespassing and intentional insult.
In the second offence, the police booked Varun Rawal, 27, a native of Bhilai, who entered the resort premises along with the rebel followers and created a ruckus as he went on a rampage and attacked police personnel. Police officials said that their probe suggests that the man does not belong to either faction of followers. Rawal has been booked under charges related to attacking a public servant and intentional insult.
The ruckus at the resort came a day after the resort management had allowed the rebel group which has been banned for years to enter the premises wearing mala or beaded rosary. On Tuesday, the management had clarified that the wearing of the mala was allowed only for a day because of the intervention of the Pune police.
While the resort management alleged trespassing and violence by the rebel group, the latter alleged use of excessive force and lathi-charge by the police at the behest of the management.
The police said that they resorted to use of force on Wednesday to control Rawal who, according to them, did not belong to either faction and created a ruckus, attacking police personnel before being overpowered and detained.

Actor Gurmeet Choudhary, who will soon be seen in the upcoming streaming series Maharana, recently visited Kainchi Dham Neem Karoli Baba Ashram in Nainital, Uttarakhand.
Talking about his spiritual visit, Gurmeet Choudhary told IANS, I have visited the Kainchi Dham Neem Karoli Baba Ashram twice over the past year. Its a divine experience and I feel the ashram and temple are a very powerful source of energy. I had gone with a wish, a goal to achieve something and wanted to seek his blessings. I had decided the day I achieve my goal I shall be visiting it back to acknowledge the blessings and be grateful for it.
In the past, Indias explosive batsman Virat Kohli along with his wife Anushka Sharma had visited the ashram apart from Meta head honcho Mark Zuckerberg.
Gurmeet Choudhary continued, Whenever ones wish is fulfilled as a mark of respect we donate a blanket to Babaji and this time I went to do the same. I am grateful to God for all the good things I have received in the past one year. You cant reach somewhere if there is no faith.
He spoke about the importance of spirituality in a persons life as he told IANS, Be it family, relationship or work I feel peace plays a very important role and spirituality helps us to achieve that. It helps us to calm down and gives us the faith to achieve our goals. In todays time its so important to remain calm. Bollywood as a profession is a very hectic job and comes with a lot of pressure. Spirituality helps you in achieving calmness amidst all that madness and takes you a step closer to your goals.
When you have a heart filled with desire and you wish to achieve certain goals, visiting a temple or a baba gives you a very blissful feeling. The two-day journey of going to the temple and visiting it is nothing less than magical for me, Gurmeet Choudhary concluded.

No matter where Polina Kozyreva is in the lineup, she dominates in … – The Daily Orange

Early on this season, Polina Kozyreva won 12 matches in a row, starting with a 3-1 lead against New Jersey Institute of Technologys Shalom Salvi and ending against Virginia Techs Semra Asku. She won both sets against Boston Universitys Navya Vadlamudi 2-0 (6-0, 6-0) and shut out Cornells Fatima El Ashram.
Former teammates Guzal Yusopova and Sofya Treshcheva both described Kozyreva as hardworking, which has translated into her role this year. Kozyreva is one of two seniors in charge of leading the Syracuse team this spring. Yusopova said Kozyreva started to take more of a leadership position as a junior last season.
Treshcheva said Kozyreva has become more responsible since she was a freshman, and now knows how to deal with stress and pressure much better. Kozyrevas success hasnt been affected by her spot in the lineup, winning matches in every singles spot besides No. 1 singles, where fellow senior Zeynep Erman currently resides.
Kozyreva has played with four different players in doubles, and has excelled with almost all of them. Her partnership with Miyuka Kimoto, who she went to the NCAA tournament with last year, has been particularly successful.
We just want to have as many options as possible. I thought they did a really good job, head coach Younes Limam said after Kimoto and Kozyreva won their first doubles match of the season against Buffalo.
Kozyreva has taken the sophomore Kimoto under her wing, and the pair performs well together, Treshcheva said. Kozyreva has also played with sophomore Shiori Ito, encouraging her between points and pushing her to battle.
For Kozyreva, each point is an important point. Its every single point she cares about. Thats what makes her stand out, Yusopova said.
Most of Kozyrevas success has come in the singles round, winning 12 of her 14 matches and only seeing a third set twice. Her first loss came against Clemsons Jenna Thompson, who beat her 2-1. The loss accounts for two of the four total sets that Kozyreva has lost this season.
Kozyreva lost her most recent match against Georgia Techs Mahak Jain, who was then-No. 99 in the country. Kozyreva lost the first set 7-6 (10-8 tiebreaker), but would come back and lead the second set 4-3 before suffering an injury and retiring from the match.
Arlo Stone | Design Editor
In all but one of her 12 wins, Kozyreva has won both sets and the match by a final score of 2-0.
She plays with a lot of confidence She understands her game extremely well, Limam said.
The one outlier from Kozyrevas long win streak took place against then-No. 23 Miami, facing Audrey Boch-Collins on Feb. 26. Kozyreva lost the first set 6-4, but bounced back and won the second set 6-4. She won the third and final set of the day 1-0 (18-16).
Kozyreva had to dig deep against Boch-Collins to pull out a win in the final set. The team match had already been decided, but Kozyreva and her opponent wanted to finish their individual match out. It went back-and-forth the whole time, going point-for-point until Kozyreva finally won the match 18-16.
In doubles, Kozyreva tries to set up Kimoto for success. The pair has won five of its seven doubles matches, which has helped Kimoto build her confidence, Limam said. Kimoto fell from the No. 1 singles spot and found herself in a four-match losing streak earlier in the season, but playing and winning matches with Kozyreva has helped her win two of her last four singles.
She does pretty well changing tactics. For her, she knows how to change rhythm, Treshcheva said. That is how you find better players, players who battle for every single point and are focused and work for it.

What is an Ashram and What Living in the Ashram Really Means – Sadhguru
Posted: October 28, 2022 at 1:45 am
Sadhguru looks at the purpose of creating a powerful energy space like the Isha Yoga Center, and the idea behind creating such an umbrella of energy.
Read in Telugu: ?
Sadhguru: What is the purpose of living in an ashram? There are various types of ashrams. People who have not been able to take care of themselves in the outside society, their food or their wellbeing or their housing, they move into certain types of ashrams. Isha Yoga Center is not one of those ashrams. This is an ashram created for a spiritual purpose. Why does one move into an ashram space like this, which is essentially for the spiritual process? What is the ingredient which makes it into that kind of a space? What is the significance and why be in such a space?
This is a spiritual space because the necessary energy has been invested in this space. If we were as strong as the other creatures who live on the Velliangiri Mountains, we wouldnt have made this place ugly with all the buildings we would have just slept on the field.
To be in the ashram means to be under the umbrella of this energy. What is the purpose of an energy like this when it is driving many people totally insane? You stay here, you cant be here. If you leave this place, you cannot be anywhere else because the purpose of this energy is not to let you settle down.
The idea of creating an umbrella of this energy is to put your life on fast-forward.
The idea of creating an umbrella of this energy is to put your life on fast-forward. People on the spiritual path are people of unquenchable discontent. It is being propagated that spirituality means contentment. Contentment means you have contented yourself with what you have. A spiritual person means he is unwilling to settle for anything less than the Ultimate. If he is miserably discontent, he becomes ugly. If he is joyfully discontent, he is dynamic. He is a possibility all the time. He wont stay in one place. It doesnt matter how much comfort it offers, he will not stay. It is a longing not to stop, not to find a nest of comfort, not to end up in a nook that is comfortable, but to get onto the boiling main stream and go.
When we put life on a fast-forward, everything is exaggerated in your experience, both your joys and your miseries. When your pain gets exaggerated, you wonder, Why the hell this spirituality? Why did I choose this? I thought this was going to be bliss That was the advertisement at least: Inner Engineering Peak of Wellbeing. Yes, it is, but you need to understand, when you stand on the highest peak, wellbeing means you just manage to stand that you are not blown off.
There is a beautiful story in the yogic lore. Once there was a blacksmith in a village, a very poor man. It looked like he acted like a magnet to all the problems in the world. They were visiting him too often. But he was a devout, very prayerful person. Once, a friend of his who did not believe in all this came and said, What nonsense, you going on praying to your god. Look at your life! All the time you are in trouble.
So the blacksmith said, See, I know only this profession. Everything I have learned, I have learned by being a blacksmith. If I want to make a useful tool, I take a piece of steel, heat it, beat it, cool it, heat it, beat it If a piece of steel cannot take the heating and beating and cooling, then I throw it on the scrap heap. Otherwise it becomes a useful tool. So my prayer is only this: Dear god, heat me, beat me, cool me, do whatever but dont ever throw me on the scrap heap.
The scrap heap is a comfortable place. Nobody beats you, nobody heats you, nobody does anything to you, but you are on the scrap heap. You should not be afraid of pain, you should not be afraid of hardship, you should not be afraid of death. Dont put me on the scrap heap. That should be the only fear for a person on the spiritual path.
