Lady Gaga spotted dancing at hotel aerobics room
Posted: April 27, 2012 at 11:15 am
The Korea Herald/Asia News Network Wednesday, Apr 25, 2012
Lady Gaga was spotted practicing her dance routines with her dance team this week at the fitness center of a hotel in southern Seoul by a hotel guest.
At the aerobics room in a hotel fitness center, on the fourth floor of the hotel, the pop star seemed to be going through the performances she will showcase at the upcoming concert, the witness told The Korea Herald. The hotel's fitness center was renovated in December last year.
Lady Gaga is staying in the hotel's presidential suite on the 17th floor, the most expensive room in the hotel, priced at 4.8 million won ($4,200) per night. Numerous international VIPs including soprano Jo Su-mi and pop star Mariah Carey have stayed in the presidential suite.
The 200-square-meter room has a bedroom, living room, dining room and kitchen as well as a separate meeting room, and is decorated with masterpieces by renowned artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Pablo Picasso.
Several fans were at the lobby on Wednesday, chatting excitedly with one another while hoping to see the pop star.
"We followed her from the airport so we all know that she is here. I actually saw her here on Sunday. I just saw all of her dancers going out for a rehearsal, but her security guard went back up, so we are guessing that she is still upstairs. But it is raining very hard so she might not come down," said 15-year-old Justin Chan.
"I can't go to the concert, so I am here. There were more fans here on Sunday, all under-aged, aged between 12 to 17," he added, showing the photo he took with his star.
He brought a letter, actually two, just in case one fails to reach her, asking if she could do something so that underaged fans could see the concert as well.

Regular exercise also has been shown to improve blood pressure, diabetes, lipid profile, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and neurocognitive function.

Water aerobics class holds annual spring potluck lunch
Posted: March 15, 2012 at 9:08 pm
After the water aerobics class concluded on Wednesday, everyone enjoyed plates full of food at the annual spring potluck lunch.
Everyone brought a side dish, which filled an entire table, as hamburgers, cheeseburgers and hot dogs were cooked on the grill for everyone to enjoy.
The picnic tables, lounge chairs and anywhere else someone could grab a seat were full at the pool Wednesday as individuals socialized and caught up on each other's lives.
Sheelagh Knapp started attending water aerobic classes seven years ago at the Pine Island pool. She said she still attends as often as she can every week.
"It makes me feel good," Knapp said smiling.
She said the water aerobic class is good for her health and it has increased her strength.
Over the years, she has formed friendships with the other women who also attend the class, which is held every day Tuesday through Saturday. Knapp said the class is a good environment with a lot of nice people.
"We have gotten to know each other and we look out for each other," she said.
Another long-time attendee is Barbara Stepien. She has participated in the class for the past four seasons while she is here during the winter months.
"It is one big happy family," Stepien said about those who attend the class.

Aerobics may ease menopause symptoms: study
Posted: at 9:08 pm
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - In a small study of Finnish women who had recently entered menopause, those who stuck to an aerobic exercise program for six months were less likely to report night sweats, mood swings and irritability than women who didn't exercise.
The study's authors say their results suggest exercise could serve as an alternative to hormone replacement therapy for quelling bothersome menopause symptoms.
"I would definitely recommend physical activity. I think that among all the options out there that it's probably the best thing for health and also symptoms of aging," said Steriani Elavsky, a professor at Penn State University, who was not involved in the new research.
In the years just after a woman reaches menopause, up to 80 percent may experience some or all of the most typical symptoms, including hot flashes and night sweats, sleep disturbances, headache, depression, irritability, urinary problems and vaginal dryness.
Estrogen-based therapy can ease those symptoms, but concerns about health risks associated with the hormones have led many women and their physicians to shy away from that treatment.
Though not all studies have agreed, some earlier work has shown that exercise can help as well.
Dr. Riitta Luoto at the UKK Institute for Health Promotion Research in Tampere, Finland, and her colleagues found in a previous study that exercise helped to reduce the number of hot flashes women experienced.
In the latest study, published in the journal Menopause, the same team looked at other symptoms of menopause.
The researchers randomly assigned 74 recently menopausal women aged 45 to 63, all of whom were experiencing symptoms, to exercise 50 minutes a day, four days a week for 24 weeks. A comparison group of 77 women attended health lectures instead.
For the exercise group, at least two of the sessions each week had to involve walking, while the other two could include walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, aerobics or other activities.
