Gainesville The Leonard Park Aquatic Center opens today for a summer filled with swimming pool fun.

The resort-style, public pool appeals to all ages, Gainesville Parks and Recreation director Patrick McCage said.

The aquatic center provides great opportunity to play and splash in the water with different features that include a pool drop slide, diving board, play structure, rock wall and the big yellow slide. A variety of swim programs are also available.

Programs offered to the public include general swim, family night, swimming lessons, Paddling with Parents, ladies aerobics, Swimmin Women and season passes for both the individual and family.

New is the Dive-In movie Nights offered from June 21 to July 19 and Aug. 9.

Paddling with Parents is offered from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Registration for swimming lessons and private parties for the 2014 season has started.

General hours are from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Admission is $5 per person with children two years-old and younger free. One child per adult.

Individual season passes are available for $75. A pass for a family of four is $160 and two additional members would be $25 per person. A punch card for $45 provides 10 visits.

Family swim night is on Fridays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. No one under 17 years of age is admitted without a parent. A family up to six members is $20 and an individual is $5.
