CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. -

Most pools are closed for the fall season. But if you want to get in the water, you're in luck this Saturday.

Those at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center invite the public to "Try It For Free" -- water aerobics classes, that is.

The "Try It For Free" program kicks off Saturday morning from 9 until 11:30 a.m.

Here's the schedule:

Each class lasts about 30 minutes. There is no registration required. The staff recommends the classes for 18 and up, but younger participants are welcome with parental supervision.

Program supervisors say participants do not have to know how to swim (with the exception of the Masters classes at 11 a.m.) They just have to be comfortable in water that's up to chest level.

Trainers say this is a great way to see which class best fits your workout needs. The good thing about water aerobics is that it's easy on your joints, there is resistance no matter how you move, and it's a fun group activity.
