Kenneth Sorrenson Video Tribute
Kenneth Sorrenson, 80 year old Checotah resident, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in Checotah, Oklahoma. Kenneth was born Sunday, December 11, 1932 to Stanley and Marion (Lang) Sorrenson in LaSalle, Illinois. He was raised in Oklahoma City where he stayed until he graduated from high school. On Friday, September 14, 1951, Kenneth entered The United States Navy. He served in the Korean Conflict War as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic stationed in Japan earning the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. After serving 4 years, he was honorably discharged on Tuesday, September 13, 1955. He then went to work as an aerospace engineer at Tinker Air Force Base in Del City, Oklahoma until he retired. On Friday, January 6, 1989 he married his best friend Hilda Seveland in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Kenneth was an avid fisherman all his adult life and loved to take his daughters fishing on vacation. He enjoyed watching his daughters play basketball when they were growing up and rarely missed a game. Kenneth was a very good athlete and played softball for many years. During his retirement, he worked part-time at a golf course where he could pursue his other hobby, golfing. He truly loved his wife, Hilda. We know she will miss him greatly. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sue Stewart and his two nephews, Doug Largent and Craig Cargill.
