Recorded at tedxlacemarket.org | 24th of November @ Nottingham Contemporary Laila-Elizabeth Risdon and Vanya Humphreys, Indigo Brave -- Life Beyond Belief Vanya and Laila set up the Social Enterprise Indigo Brave in 1996 to bring cutting edge personal development and real change possibilities to vulnerable people. Both with backgrounds in Theatre, Personal Development and various Therapies they found they shared a deep fascination for what on earth this life thing is all about. They successfully explored their passion for seeing if it is possible to support people to get more out of life and ran highly successful projects combating bulllying, youth crime, teenage pregnancy, parenting skills, mental health, self harm and suicide prevention. Today their main client groups are people with long term mental health histories and young people with emotional and behavioural challenges. Being a Social Enterprise they cross subsidy their work through their corporate clients who include Rolls-Royce, British Sugar and Jamie Oliver #39;s Fifteen Foundation. They have won the Pam Sheridan National Award for innovative education, a MIND millennium award and are finalists in this years Nottingham Social Enterprise of the Year. Last year they started a new chapter by moving their families on to a piece of land near Newark to live their dream of a community based, sustainable lifestyle.
