Microwave Me: Lighter
Experiment #52: Cigarette Lighter (Season Two Finale) (Rated PG) Captain Microwave finishes up the season with the most dangerous item on the show to date, a BIC lighter. Granted, it #39;s nothing compared to some of the things planned for season 3. However, this experiment did yield some pretty cool results, with it being the first time I intentionally microwaved something so that it would catch fire. Demi survived this one amazingly well and as a result earned her permanent retirement, but with a bit of a cleaning, Demi could be a house microwave. This awesome experiment capped off what was a good season that really established my character. I quickly did away with the sarcastic monotone and slowly became Captain Microwave. This is also my first ever "deadly idea" and the first experiment where I had real need for the poking arm (although I did use it during the root beer can and ping pong balls episodes) since the lighter flared up pretty good, so I wisely made sure not to be anywhere near the fire itself. I actually initially added time but when I found that everything good happened in the first 3 minutes, I just edited all that out. I was actually planning on ending the season with an aerosol can in cooking oil, but that, along with the styrafoam block and packing peanuts, will have to be moved to season 3 since they slipped my mind and I just needed to finish up the season. But I thought this was still a cool way to end the season. Clip show will be up tomorrow ...
